Red Bulls was charging a 1,000 each to play in the youth programs not including own travel to tournaments
The Red Bull Academy will no longer let money be the reason talented kids slip through the cracks.
Beginning this year, the academy will be free to all participants selected into the program, which includes U-20, U-18, U-16, U-15 and U-14 teams.
"We believe by eliminating the cost barrier, top players will be able to develop within our program with a goal of someday playing on the First Team for the New York Red Bulls," academy director Bob Montgomery said in a statement.
In the past, the nearly 100 kids paid approximately $1,000 each, plus they paid for their own travel to tournaments
