The Confidential has been occasionally admonished over the years for allowing Metros' GM Nick Sakiewicz to trumpet his stadium proclamations and bemoan the political snarls he's encountered.
Metros fans can't be faulted for distrusting a seemingly endless procession of empty promises, but once the AEG real estate division got its teeth into a vast project of which the Metros stadium is just one component, betting against Harrison was a loser.
Certainly there will be problems and delays for the 25,000-capacity, $100 million stadium scheduled to open for the 2006 season. And MLS must still work desperately hard, as once the allure of a new stadium wears off, fans - like those in Columbus - don't automatically flock month after month and year after year.
With a soccer-specific stadium near Los Angeles and a new one slated next door to New York, MLS has a bit more of the clout it needs in the real world, where what happens to the bottom line is just as important as what takes place between the lines.

if it is up by the 2006 season i'd be suprised. We might have to do what the galaxy did and start the season on a long road trip so they can finish up the stadium. Have a feeling that could happen anyway.

Stadium delayed to 2009
The METROSTARS' HARRISON STADIUM PROJECT was declared "dead" by New Jersey Senate
president and soon to be acting governor Richard Codey because Hudson County had
refused to issue some $90 million in bonds. Peter Higgins, director of the
Harrison Redevelopment Authority, however, called it a temporary setback and
said the city is still pursing a $120 million, 25,000-seat stadium for the
MetroStars, who are also in talks regarding a new stadium in East
Rutherford.
