Nice idea, but it's not really the Cosmos. It's just a team named the Cosmos years after the original team folded. There really wouldn't be any connection in my opinion between the two teams -- only name recognition.

I don't doubt it. But the Cosmos have been dead for over 15 years. It will be a new team that happens to be named the Cosmos. I liked and followed the Cosmos -- a new team that uses that name would mean nothing to me. But I don't doubt many people would hop on the bandwagon.

what kind of crowd would a big city club like this draw?
mainly suburbs or a diverse crowd.
also what sort of size of crowd......please excuse my ignorance....so wrapped up in european football although the development of football in america and asia is vital for the sports continuity of growth imo.

Lieweke also said the newly formed company will work toward adding a second MLS team in the area, as well as working with MLS on hosting international exhibition matches.
"I think you will see us make a legitimate attempt to look at developing anther team and maybe another stadium at some point in the future in the New York area," said Lieweke.

The Red Bulls get some good crowds, but the stadium is way to big to have an exciting atmosphere. Hopefully, when the new stadium opens it will become more exciting. I went to the Chivas game last year at the meadowlands and it was real fun.
