Quaranta appeared in six games for the Galaxy this season, making three starts. He also appeared in three of the Galaxy's four reserve-division games.

He joined the Galaxy last August after spending the first 5 1/2 years of his career with D.C. United. Quaranta has appeared in 80 career games and scored 17 goals, three of which came in his 18 games with the Galaxy.

"This move was made to address salary cap and roster-spot issues," general manager Alexi Lalas said.

Forward Carlos Pavon was officially added to the roster after signing with the Galaxy on June 20. He captained the Honduran national team to the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup and led the tournament with five goals, four of which came in a 5-0 win over Cuba on June 13.

The former Aston Villa striker took his frustrations out on Revs players, cutting down Jeff Larentowicz in the 14th minute and Shalrie Joseph in the 36th minute en route to a game-high five fouls. Angel and Joseph also had a tussle at the end of the first half.

"It's been the case in the last few games, but we've got to keep going, building every weekend, trying to improve," Angel said of his aggravation. "We've got a good group of players in here and it's a long season and there's still a long way to go."

Steve Ralston became MLS's all-time assists leader as the New England Revolution moved into first place in the Eastern Conference with a 1-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls at Giants Stadium on Saturday night.The Revolution (7-3-5) entered the night one point behind the conference-leading Red Bulls (7-6-3) but moved ahead with Saturday's victory. New England now has 26 points to New York's 24.Ralston notched his 115th career assist in the winning effort to pass Carlos Valderrama in the MLS record book."(The milestone) is a reflection of my longevity," Ralston said. "I have been fortunate to play with some great players."One of the greatest Ralston played with was the one he passed in Valderrama. The two were teammates with the Tampa Bay Mutiny."Passing Carlos is special because he was such a big part of my career," Ralston said. "I'm glad it's past me now so we can move on."Ralston began the play when he stole the ball and immediately sent it to Shalrie Joseph, who found Dorman moving up the right flank.
