Well now that the all star game is upon us... thought I'd put in my comments about the play of our team.
1. Amado Guevara: Definitely the team mvp, and if he isn't the league mvp he's in the top 3 easily. 2nd in goals tied 1st in assists and 1st in points. He's really picked up the slack with clint gone to germany. Goes back and plays defense too. We couldn't be sitting 5 points clear of 2nd place in the east right now without him.
2. Eddie Gaven: The emergence of Eddie Gaven has given the metros a much needed spark. The 17 year old has played so well he has earned a senior nat cap recently. Even tho he hasn't found the back of the net recently, he puts fear in the opposition everytime he touches the ball in the attacking half of the field.
3. Too many fowards, not enough goals. Well we are 2nd in the league in goals, but amado leads the team by quite a few. Taylor and Glen started off hot but haven't finished much lately until glen did against the wizards. The King of Goals is more like the Queen of the Bench, and has scored once this whole season. Woly has been solid, and is a hard worker, but he really can't be counted on for a bucket load of goals, tho, he does seem to score em in the right times

Magee has played well too, but can't seem to finish off his chances.
4. Where did the defense go? You can't really blame Johnny Walker for the metros leading the league in goals conceded. The defense in front of him is subpar at best. It's Eddie Pope and a bunch of no names with Ricardo Clark (who is now injured), playing a defensive mid role. Those two have been usually good, however the others prolly wouldn't start for anyone else. Don't care how well Jeff Parke has played. A warning sign should've went up right then and there when the last pick in the draft could become the starting center back next to Eddie Pope. The Jolley trade backfired. Tenywa Bonseu was mainly crap so far, tho he did play well in the last match, hopefully a sign that he is turning around.
5. Injuries: Thankfully we have great depth at midfield because most of them have been injured at one time or another. Ricardo Clark, Mark Lisi and Gilberto are all out of action right now. Lisi might be back soon, and not sure on Clark, but Gilberto will be out for the rest of the year most likely.
