Well Matteo I've wrote 3 times now just to have it lost to an Invalid_session and it takes to long to really explain and I don't want to do it again so my argument ends here.. 8bo:

As long as he doesn't pull a Matthaus -- thinking he could just relax and take a vacation while he's here.

McManaman has done very little this season us, I do think it isn't out of the question he'll be off to the US in the Summer simply because City are in debt and KK may need to lower the wage salary... so why not off load an underperforming (usually anyway) overpaid player we won't miss that much?

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING
"There is no truth to that rumor. We have not spoken to [Steve] McManaman, to his representatives or to Manchester City."
-- MetroStars general manager Nick Sakiewicz, refuting reports that the team is pursuing the former England midfielder. (North Jersey Herald)
"Would I like a player like McManaman? Sure I would. I would also like Ronaldo, Raul and Roberto Carlos. It doesn't mean those things are happening."
-- Sakiewicz. (North Jersey Herald)

I'm hearing that the Macca deal is real or was real and that the leaking of this has thrown wrench into this transfer. I'm told it's 50/50 still that id could still happen.

2. OCCEANS AWAY: The Metros drafted him but the league couldn't sign him.
Striker Olivier Occean, a Canadian who played at Southern Connecticut State and was a Division II All-American, has signed a contract with Norwegian club Odd Grenland.
The Metros took Occean, 22, in the third round after he set a SCSU scoring record with 57 goals. He scored twice as the Metros won the La Manga Cup, at which Odd Grenland -- one of four Norwegian clubs also playing in the tournament -- spotted him.
According to agent Patrick McCabe, Occean has signed a three-year deal worth far more than the MLS minimum of $24,000 per year.
Occean's departure leaves the Metros thin up front, with only John Wolyniec, Mike Nugent and Mike Magee as returnees from last season. Jamaican striker Fabian Taylor has been added as a discovery player.

Burchill Targeted by Metros 12/03/04
By Michael Preston
Former Celtic midfielder Mark Burchill could be on his way to the Metrostars in the wake of reports that Manchester City winger Steve McManaman has been targeted by the New York MLS club.
The Scottish youngster has failed to command a place in the Portsmouth line up since a move worth close to a million dollars from the Scottish Premier League giants in 2002 and refused to go to Sheffield Wednesday on loan in December.
Any hope of a surprise signing of want-away McManaman looks set to be dashed by the England international’s wage demands that are beyond the means of MLS clubs. The ex-Real Madrid man is reported to earn in the region of $100,000 per week and although he is prepared to negotiate more reasonable deal, his current club would also demand a significant transfer fee.
Burchill’s personal terms have also scared off potential new teams during a career that has seen him play for Celtic, Ipswich Town, Birmingham City, Portsmouth, Dundee and Wigan. Already a journeyman at such a tender age, Burchill proved too expensive for Birmingham to sign beyond a loan agreement.
But the 23-year-old is keen to kick start his career and a British soccer agent who scoffed at suggestions Teddy Sherringham is tempted to move to the US threw Burchill’s name into the ring as a more likely alternative.
Burchill scored four goals in his first five games for Pompey in the First Division, but suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury and his Fratton Park career has lasted just 16 months.
“He's very pacey and has an eye for goal in the poachers mould,” said Paul Jewel, manager of Wigan where Burchill spent a month on loan. “He makes very intelligent runs an he's a young player that everyone has known about since he broke into the team at Celtic.”
