I would say the league got their money's worth for Spencer, Simutenkov and Eklund. Just MHO. I might even throw Stewart in there -- though he was unhappy after his first year in MLS.

Hope you don't mind me chirping in here. He was a waste of money. No fan of the MLS will (or shouldn't) try to tell people we have the best league in the world, but that guy came here expecting a retirement league and basically thought he was on vacation. The other league players and the fans deserved more than that. He showed our league no respect. Unlike Nowak, Vladeramma, stoichkov and other international players.

I just hope Djorkaeff doesn't do the same.

I honestly don't know about this move by BoB, guess we'll have to wait and see.

Maybe for the Metro's, but for the league? I can't agree there. Nowak, Valderrama, Stoitchkov, Savarese (for Metro's), Warzycha, Campos, Cerritos, and Rodriguez. Those are only the one's I can think of off the top of my head. Just opinion of course, but I think all of those guys contributed to the league more than Donadoni did. NOT saying he didn't make a contribution.

I agree, I might even add in Ruiz, Guevara, Etcheverry, Nelsen and maybe Cancela and Zenga. Donadoni was certainly better the Matthaeus, but I wouldn't rate him as the top foreigner ever in MLS.

Metros notes

Newly signed French midfielder Youri Djorkaeff is expected to arrive in Ecuador to join the MetroStars on Wednesday. He won't join the team in time for its exhibition game against Ecuadorian power Emelec tonight, but may see action when the two teams meet again on Thursday. Brazilian midfielder Gilberto Flores has joined the team and has slimmed down and appears in good shape. A surprising contributor before an ankle injury forced him to miss much of the second half of last season, Flores is expected to compete for a starting defensive midfield role vacated by the departure of Ricardo Clark, who was traded to San Jose this off-season.
