Probabley, his best spell as a footballer came whilst at Man City. He was out captain on a number of occasions, he was always strong in a challenge and good in the air, he used to be a real danger for other teams if he went up for a corner.
"Former England International," according to the article.
He has 4 caps for England and i'm sure he only got those due to injuries/suspensions to more regular English centre backs.
All in all though, he was a good player... he was at Bolton for a while last season, I think he made one first team appearance, ironically against City, and played awful and never pulled on the white of Bolton again.

He hasn't had a full season in a couple of years and he was awful in his only game last season... but perhaps he was just rusty.
