moore blow for new england
A knee injury suffered last weekend by New England Revolution forward Joe-Max Moore is set to sideline the former Everton player for up to two months.
An MRI showed a sprain in the medial collateral ligament in Moore's right knee, and the injury is expected to sideline the striker for six to eight weeks.
Last season, Moore sprained the same ligament in his left knee, and only played 16 games for New England.
"It's unfortunate for Joe-Max and for the team," said Revolution head coach Steve Nicol. "Joe gives his heart and soul every minute he's on the field, and sometimes these things happen. The positive is that he came into the season extremely fit and we're confident he'll make a quick and full recovery."
Injured late in the 1-1 draw last Sunday against the MetroStars, Moore will likely miss most of the next two months for New England with the latest of several injuries that have blighted his career in the past few years.
Moore had played well so far this season, and his performance against the Metros was perhaps the best of the season so far playing as an attacking midfielder behind Pat Noonan and Taylor Twellman.
But in the 85th minute, Moore collided with John Wolyniec and was quickly taken out of the game.
The injury is just the latest in a long line injuriess for the Revolution, who were unable to field a full substitutes bench at Giants Stadium.
Even at full strength, New England lacks any real depth in the striking department after trading Chris Brown to San Jose.
With Noonan and Twellman candidates to be called up by Bruce Arena for the U.S. national team later in the season, the team lacks any true strikers in their squad behind their starters with Moore out.
Moore is in the second of a three-year contract with Major League Soccer, but the Revolution attacker's last season of that deal is a league-held option. At 33, Moore may have to endure a cut in pay in the coming offseason to remain with a cap-strapped New England side.

He's played well individually in all his games. He just isn't on the same page with the rest of the team. He looked better on Sunday, but it seems everytime he gets close he gets injured.

I'll be there. I still think Twellman will win the scoring race this year.

Injury problems, John the answer?
With central defenders Pierce (6-8 weeks), Llamosa (indefinitely) and Kante (day-to-day) all injuryed the Revs have been playing midfielders Brian Kamler and Shalrie Joseph in central defense. While the have done a good job, this has hurt the Revs midfield losing two key players.
Reports have said the Revs are close to signing central defender Avery John (Stern John's brother). Hopefully he will help...
Also injured is Joe-Max Moore (6-8 weeks).

Bobby Convey
"Everyone wants to be on the field for 90 minutes, everyone wants to play.
But in this situation, Bobby had his game [with the U.S. national team last]
Wednesday against Mexico. We were just afraid he would hurt himself. We
wanted to make sure he was ready for the next game."
-- D.C. United coach Peter Nowak (Washington Post)

He makes big saves, but sometimes he can be a bit inconsistent and let an easy one in.
