Milan Calciomercato Thread
Quote:
Italian international Daniele Bonera will start against Scotland this evening and Milan are the latest club to be associated with a transfer swoop.
The Parma defender is tipped to set the summer transfer gossip alight when he is likely to be sold in order to keep the Tardini side afloat.
Up until now, Juventus have been the runaway favourites to capture his signature, but today Turin-based newspaper ‘Tuttosport’ has warned that there is a new contender in the race.
Milan are eager to bring some fresh blood into a defence where only Alessandro Nesta is the right side of 30, while Bonera’s versatility would enable him to play in central defence or at right-back.
The key to the deal could lie with Alberto Gilardino, as the deal to bring in the hitman is almost completed and 23-year-old Bonera could be thrown in as part of an expanded agreement with Parma.
The importance of Marcos Cafu on the right has become all too apparent this season and a back-up is necessary for the new campaign.
Lecce’s soon to be Italian international Marco Cassetti was the prime candidate, but Massimo Oddo’s imminent split with Lazio has alerted the San Siro giants to potential bargain.

Milan vie for Hugo Viana
Quote:
There are strong reports that the Rossoneri will be making a firm bid for Newcastle-owned flop Hugo Viana in the summer.
Magpies chairman Freddy Shepherd travelled to Portugal this week to discuss the 22-year-old’s future, but it looks as if Sporting Lisbon – where the midfielder is currently on loan – will be unable to meet the £5m asking price to make the move permanent.
Milan are now showing a marked interest after director Ariedo Braida formed a comprehensive scouting dossier on Viana.
Porto and Benfica are also willing to keep him in Portugal, but the Serie A giants provide a very different allure.
Viana’s attacking tendencies from midfield will fit into Carlo Ancelotti’s tactics and the youngster could step in for his fellow countryman Manuel Rui Costa.
The former Under-21 international was signed by Newcastle for £8.5m in 2002, but failed to settle in to the Premiership.

i am stunned..why would Milan sign Hugo Viana?? He was a massive flop in the Newcastle...

Inter should be right in there also.
Though I'll be extremely happy if we add Lusaio this year.

The lad has the ability to become a top class player certainly in the Italian or Spanish league.I actually think the Italian league would be the best for him as he's very similar in style to Pirlo.

Milan weigh up van Bommel
Milan are considering hijacking Barcelona's bid to sign PSV Eindhoven midfielder Mark van Bommel.
Reports in Italy claim the Serie A champions have added the Holland international to their summer shopping list.
Van Bommel is out of contract at Philips Stadion at the end of the season and is musing over his future.
He has the option of staying with PSV but reports claim that his current club's UEFA Champions League opponents now want to secure his services.
PSV play the Rossoneri in the semi-finals of the competition later this month and that will provide the Italian giants with a first hand opportunity to assess van Bommel's ability.
If Milan do decide to firm up their interest in the 27-year-old they are likely to be playing a game of catch-up with Barcelona.
Speculation persists that the tough-tackling midfielder will join the Spanish giants in the summer, despite denials from the player and club that a deal has already been agreed.
Tottenham Hotspur are admirers of van Bommel but Spurs boss Martin Jol has previously stated his belief that the player will link up with compatriot, and Barca coach, Frank Rijkaard at Camp Nou.
German duo Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, along with Juventus, are also suitors but it appears it could come down to a battle between Barcelona and Milan.

Well I doubt he wants to become a regular bench sitter and moreover miss the World Cup.Besides I think he prefers Spanish or English football.

Milan hint at Totti bid
Quote:
A potential summer swoop for Francesco Totti has been suggested by Rossoneri patron Silvio Berlusconi, sparking furious transfer speculation.
Berlusconi was cornered by journalists as he fielded questions on his political situation as Prime Minister of Italy and was asked if he’d sign the Roma star.
“I won’t say a thing,” noted the multi-millionaire before nodding his head in agreement and smiling broadly.
This is certainly not the first time that Totti has been linked to the San Siro giants, as earlier this season the player confirmed he would appreciate such a move.
The Roma captain’s future is in major doubt as his contract renegotiations have stalled and his recent disciplinary problems caused a split within the club.
Totti has been given a five-match ban for striking Siena’s Francesco Colonnese in an off the ball incident and was also fined the maximum 30 per cent of his monthly wages by the Giallorossi.
In the past it has been suggested that he’d only accept an overseas switch to Real Madrid or Chelsea, but Milan and Inter have shown a real interest in the creative midfielder.
These are also the only Italian clubs capable of matching the price-tag, which should be in the region of £20m.
Roma have been quick to react and director Rosella Sensi released a statement to immediately cut out any more speculation.
“Totti will stay in Rome,” assured the daughter of President Franco Sensi. “We thank other sides for their interest, but we say no, thank you.”
