Veloso to Milan?
Milan director Ariedo Braida has opened the door to Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso by admitting that the Rossoneri are interested in signing the player.
Il Diavolo are currently strengthening their side for next season as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for the Scudetto.
The Rossoneri have been linked with Veloso for quite sometime but they have denied that they were interested in him.
However, Braida has now admitted the club's penchant for the player and he has hinted that Milan will be signing him in the near future.
"Veloso is a great player, I believe that he will sign for us in future," Braida told 'A Bola'
"I am not too sure if we will sign him now but you never know, anything is possible in football."
Adriano Galliani is currently working to strengthen his attacking department as he tries to swoop for Adebayor but it seems as if the Rossoneri might just sneak in and pounce for Veloso who is likley to leave Sporting if tempted by a major offer.
The midfielder has impressed the San Siro giants and he might end up wearing the Milan jersey sooner rather than later following Braida's latest revelations.
Veloso has recently admitted his desire to leave Portugal to move abroad and face a big challenge with a major club and Milan are the favourites to sign him.

This would be a solid move for Milan, and our aging midfield/team. Veloso is a solid player with tremendous upside. We would more than likely have to cut ties with Brocchi or Emerson or both which I wouldn't have a problem with.

Are you sure you want to sign Veloso?
I mean, he is a great player, but his attitude is a bit screwed up, as in, he is a lazy bastard and he thinks more about his hair than his performances. Also, his price-tag is quite high, not sure Milan would be willing to spend €25m+ on one player.

See what she does then. You will have basically turned the tables on her. Tried this a few times, always works.

"Well, that was fun... in a fuckin' terrible, sick, not-at-all-fun way."
Ricardo Quaresma: forever a Porto legend. Thank you for all the memories.

His main motivation for the move is because he believes that if your play outside of Portugal you get more recognition for the national team. Maybe its a bit of motivation.
I think he could be a Cassano type player, maybe a change of scenery on a more prestigious veteran club would do him well. I can't see him getting moody with guys like Maldini, Gattuso and Seedorf.

It depends on the coach, if it was Scolari, it didn't really matter whether you are playing for Porto, Milan or Pescara, you wouldn't get picked unless you shown you can play at a high level. But now that we'll get a new coach, everything might be different.
I'm not sure about that mate, he's got a bit of an attitude going on.. He's Sporting's pretty boy.

Haha, Cassano?
Did you hear what he had to say to the Sporting brass? He acts cocky but I believe a change of atmosphere is what veloso needs.
It doesn't matter to me where he ends up, Italy is perfect for him but the asking price is too much.

I agree, the price is a bit outrageous. But teams always sell for lower than the actually asking price.

This is a smart move, as we need to get much younger and build around Pato.

Flamini---Pirlo---Veloso midfield. Now thats a radical change.Im feeling that midfield.Definately mixing in the young guys with the more experienced fellows like Gattuso and Ambrosini.

Milan vie for Miguel Veloso Tuesday 17 June, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While negotiations with Milan for Miguel Veloso are confirmed, Sporting Lisbon also arrange a friendly with Sampdoria.
“I can confirm that Milan are interested in Miguel Veloso and have been for some time, so we are not surprised by the renewed bid,” commented agent Paulo Barbosa on Teleradiostereo.
“The rescission clause is set at £20m, but after Euro 2008 the clubs can sit down around a table to negotiate. Right now Miguel is focused on the European Championship.”
Veloso is a defensive midfielder who can also play in central defence when needed. He impressed Italian fans when commanding the midfield in Sporting’s 1-0 victory over Inter last season.
However, the Portuguese midfielder is also a target for Serie A rivals Roma, who have a Champions League place compared to Milan’s UEFA Cup spot.
“They did track him after coming face to face in the Champions League, but then that interest died down a bit,” added Barbosa.
Meanwhile, Sporting Lisbon have arranged a friendly against Sampdoria in Portugal on August 9.

Veloso returns to Milan radar Friday 20 June, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso has insisted that he is free to leave his current employers, prompting suggestions that Milan will swoop.
The 22-year-old has been in the Rossoneri’s sights for some time, but Diavolo transfer guru Ariedo Braida has always stressed it would be tough to persuade Sporting to let him go.
Manchester United have reportedly expressed an interest in Veloso, which may be an obstacle for Milan, but it seems that a move to San Siro is by no means out of the question.
“When I get home I’m going to look at all the offers I have received and I will study them,” Veloso told Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
“At the moment I don’t know anything – all I know is that Milan are a big club. Sporting won’t lay down any obstacles if a good offer comes in for me.”
Veloso has previously stated that it would be a dream come true to wear the Diavolo shirt and can expect a call from the world champions shortly.
