Thumbs up Rossoneri fans demand change!!

channel4.com - Football Italia

Quote:
Frustrated Milan fans have sent a petition to the club’s head office demanding a change in ownership to allow the Diavolo to compete in the market.

After a miserable season culminating in a fifth-placed finish, the Rossoneri were determined to add a big-name striking star to the ranks this summer.

However, Vice-President Adriano Galliani has confessed that the world champions don’t have the resources to lure the biggest stars, such as Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor.

Galliani’s declaration has angered many Milan followers, who have started an online petition to demand that patron Silvio Berlusconi sells the club.

“The club has been lamenting its lack of resources compared to those in England and Spain and so we invite the fans to protest for an improvement,” the petition begins.

“We are grateful to the President for the work he has done, but over the last two years we have won because of miracles from our team and not because of anything else.

“We have to make ourselves heard in a serious way and we need to make our disappointment with Milan clear.

“The Rossoneri deserve dignity and for the benefit of the club we demand that the President sells up to restore some pride amongst the fans.”

I agree!

Berlusconi and Galliani is now passé. Milan needs new fresh energy in the management team!

I think the fans are overreacting slightly. Despite the lack of success over the past few years (especially in Italy) Berlusconi has done a lot for the club, a lot.

Galliani defends Silvio strategy Thursday 3 July, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has responded to fans protesting against club patron Silvio Berlusconi.

The pressure is rising in Italy’s fashion capital as the world champions struggle to find a big-name striker who they can afford to bring to San Siro.

An online petition has received nearly 2000 signatures from Diavolo supporters demanding that Berlusconi leave the club because he isn’t investing heavily enough.

“The protest against Berlusconi is bizarre,” Galliani told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The 1700 people who signed it are free to think what they want, but Berlusconi isn’t involved in the management of the club and he has already kept his champions for the UEFA Cup.

“I can’t make any promises to the fans, but I can say that Milan are doing everything possible to build a competitive squad.

“The problem in Italy is that prices have risen enormously. Fans need to know that this is the reality of calcio.

“With the current financial situation, Italian sides can’t compete with foreign clubs.

“There won’t be a £35m swoop, but there will be a move if the terms are more reasonable.”

The majority of Milan fans know where they would be without him.

Being Prime Minister, his assets are under very close watch. The opposition in Italy will do anything to bury u. He has to make sure his companies balance books are fine, therefore Milan cant spend beyond their means like before.

All Italian sides have to become leaner and meaner, and this applies to mighty Milan also.

This team won the Club World Cup and CL not too long ago...fans needs to look at the positives and not just a bad season.

It's clear Milan's biggest flaw over the years has been a poor business model.

I'm suprised they haven't decided to sell a few assets. But to the credit of the managment they have kept their best players even when the money was good (Kaka being an example). Although maybe Milan need to sell a big player to afford refreshing their squad - the finest example being when we sold Zizou.

Good call.

But then it becomes a problem of who to bring in when you've got no CL football?

I think they'll get Ronaldinho though, as opposed to a world class striker.
