Milan Channel - Now on YouTube!
Yes, officially!
Quote:
WORLD AUDIENCE
3/30/2007 1:03:00 PM
Milan Channel has become the first Italian television channel on the planet to be broadcast on youtube. The address to follow Milan Channel is YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
Milan Channel, the official channel dedicated to A.C. Milan, has announced that it has created a channel dedicated to YouTube. It will be the first Italian television channel to have signed up an agreement with YouTube.
The address at YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. will be available throughout the world in a special version of Milan Channel. There will be daily news clips, special clips, exclusive videos and "Milan Classic" content in both Italian and English.
Viewers will have the opportunity to interact with each other through polls, by commenting on the content and sending their favourite videos to their friends. They will also be able to contact Milan Channel to give their views on the videos.
'We are honoured to be the first Italian channel to cooperate with YouTube,' said Milan Channel President Riccardo Silva. 'Milan has confirmed once again that is it the most followed themed channel for a football club in Italy, with 55,000 subscribers on Sky and throughout the world. Thanks to numerous international distribution agreements, Milan Channel programming is transmitted on 23 foreign channels which incooperate 48 countries in the world. The presence on YouTube, whose community boosts hundreds of thousands of videos watched every day, will also widen the world audience for Milan Channel through the internet.'
'The presence of the Milan brand on YouTube,' declared Laura Masi, AC Milan Vice Commercial Director and Director of Marketing, 'is testimony to the winning strategy of the club to realise the potential of contacting our fans through the internet and the international distribution deals of our content.'

A.C. Milan - WORLD AUDIENCE
Nice! This is some seriously smart marketing by Milan. Good move, guys-- excellent product placement.
(On a personal note, this is probably going to be the last straw that convinces me I really, really need a faster connection...)

Very nice. I wish Bayern heads would stop thinking about money once and offer a good service like this for free.

Actually, they wouldn't even have to stop thinking about money-- after all, what is Milan Channel on YouTube but an advertisement for Milan? I'm sure Milan has money in mind with this one, too: it may be a free service, but it's a free service designed to create more Milan fans and more visibility for the Milan brand. If people think Milan is a nice club for offering this for free, they'll be more likely to become loyal fans who buy jerseys and posters and season tickets. That's why it's such great marketing in my opinion, the fans will love it and ultimately it makes money for the club too.

Does Chelsea have an official YouTube presence (or something similar) too? That's great if so; Chelsea's marketing is very effective and Milan would do well to take a look at what kinds of things have worked for them.

Ah, that makes sense-- for some reason I'm not surprised that Milan are actually second to do this but are making it sound like they're first.
Credit to Chelsea, then, for a great idea! If Chelsea's and Milan's are successful (and I don't see why they wouldn't be) I bet we'll see more clubs do the same thing in the coming months.

Well Milan were the first team to have a TV channel purely dedicated to a football team. So not surpising they are one of the first to do this. Nice move by Chelsea, credit to them.

Milan Channel content does go to more countries than just Italy-- for example, in the USA, Fox Soccer Channel holds the rights to Milan Channel content and airs two shows, "Milan Weekly" and "Milan Classics"-- but the full-fledged Milan Channel is Italy-only, as Aladino said.

Awesome news, I hope Inter follow suit.
Inter has one of the best webpages for any team in the world. All our games are on the site, radio of course, and the webpage has a lot of content, though I would love to see them follow suit with this.

Inter's site isn't that bad I must say. After Milan's upgrade earlier on this season, their site is great. Audio, video, and photo galleries. Plus a whole lot more, even a games section!
