I cant see either team dressing a strong lineup. Both clubs have to much at stake in the league right now.

Agreed, but it should be an intense game regardless.

Both teams will be going for the win.

Buffon: “Great to take on Milan again”

“A summary of 2006? Well, I’d say it was a year of ups and downs. I certainly didn’t get bored, but that doesn’t mean I enjoyed myself”. Gigi Buffon isn’t sorry to be leaving last year in his wake. Speaking to the press following the team’s first training session of the year, the Bianconeri number one found a powerful way to sum up his feelings on 2006: “When riding a roller coaster, you sometimes run the risk of feeling sick...”.

2007 gets cracking with a particularly mouth watering clash, the Trofeo Berlusconi against Milan. Last time round Gigi walked away with a shoulder injury, but a year and an half on and the legend between the Juventus sticks is better than ever: “That was my last injury... It gives me great pleasure to be back though and to have the chance of taking on a team like Milan. This is a game with definite public appeal, but I would be presumptuous if I considered it an equal encounter. I don’t think we are as strong as Milan at the moment, but it’s also good to play stronger sides. This game perhaps means more to us than it does to them, because we have to reassert ourselves, get back in Serie A and become protagonists once more. We will probably be more motivated; having said that, I hope a good performance and a win don’t give us the false impression of having already arrived”.

There’s still a long way to go on the road to promotion, even if Juventus have shown themselves to be a step ahead of their closest rivals, enjoying a league position which not even an optimist like Gigi would have been able to predict: “Well yes, I expected worse for this stage of the championship. However, I’m still very bitter, angry even, about the draw with Arezzo, as we lost two points which, even if it was just before Christmas, we could have done without giving away. On the other hand, we’ve given very little away up until now: against Arezzo, where we were perhaps too superficial, and away to Rimini, when a goal up and with a numerical advantage we let ourselves be pegged back. I’d say that those are the only two games we can take the blame for”.

In the event of a Juventus victory, Deschamps will become the first man to win the Trofeo Berlusconi both as a player (1995 & 1998.) and coach.

Deschamps - Milan: Old foes

Didier Deschamps faces Milan as a coach for the first time tomorrow, but the Rossoneri are a more than familiar foe for the Frenchman.

Besides his three Trofeo Berlusconi appearances (twice on the winning side), Deschamps has lined-up against Milan on a further ten occasions: seven times with Juventus in the championship and three times in the Champions League. Twice as a Chelsea player and one rather important clash with Olympique Marseille, back in 1993 when the competition was still called the Champions Cup. Deschamps took on Milan for the first time in the final, emerging victorious (1-0) and securing the trophy he would lift three years later in Juventus colours.

Here is the complete list of Deschamps’ previous meetings with Milan

It's a friendly cup, league bans don't apply to friendlies.

Well Nedved will be def. playing as he needs games after his lengthy spell on the sidelines.

We'll be going strong. Whether Milan will put out a strong line out I doubt it.

I think we'll put out a fairly decent team, Deschamps has called up a good squad.
