Default Alberto Gilardino - staying at Milan

Parma boss Cesare Prandelli has backed young forward Alberto Gilardino to become Italy's top striker in two years' time.
The 21-year-old starlet grabbed a brace at Lecce on Sunday to hand his side a 2-1 victory, and take his season's tally to eight goals in the process.

Prandelli believes the youngster has the potential to make it right to the top, and also added that the club had no intention of selling Brazilian hit-man Adriano despite the youngster's excellent form.

"Gilardino? If he continues in this way then in two years he will be the most important Italian forward," declared the Parma coach.

"As for Adriano he will stay with us at least until June. We need him."

Gilardino expressed his delight at his recent good form, and the faith shown in him by his manager.

"I'm happy. We came here (Lecce) to get a positive result and we obtained it," he beamed.

"The coach gave me faith and now I'm playing, and I'm doing well."

Today he's done a 'Adriano' and distanced himself from a move to Chelsea.

Its a huge gamble for him Robaldo, little to gain, but a lot to lose. He could become a "god" in Italy. He already is.

However it could happen.

Gila is the real deal, big, strong, smart, powerfull shot. In Italy they consider him the "next one".

..but we both have players you want. To be honest, there's not one stand out player that I envy Chelsea for..maybe Robben and Jarosik, simply because of the youth factor.
Lampard and Terry? Don't think they'd bode too well in Serie A, they're both fantastic talents..I just think that the change in environment, temperament etc. would not suit them one bit. Like Buffon said in reply to Utd's recent 'bid': "I'm too Italian to play in the Premiership." Same goes for many, many English stars.

jarosik lol....do u know nothing about us.

and please....robben is already the best winger in the world...did u see him destroy chivu for holland at the weeken? obviously not.

you need a player like lampard....i agree, i dont think terry would do too well in italy, but lamps would love the slower pace.

Its a diiferent game. The italian game involves a lot more technical & tactical factors, while the English game is more pace& power. In Italy you play the ball around more & try to tactically beat your opponent using a technical approach. In England you play the ball fast & try to get it forward as quickly as possible & shoot a lot. It's very different & players have a hard time adjusting from one to the either. Also there's the climate & social changes. No, I don't see Gilardino moving to England any time soon, if at all.
