Gilarino met with Gallaini, Leonardo and Braida this afternoon and he has confirmed he wants to stay
They spoke for 20mins to clear everything and sort out the business between Gila and the club
Queste le dichiarazioni rilasciate a Milan Channel dopo l’incontro:
After the meeting Gila and Gallini went to MilanChannel
Gallini: "Gil ahas confirmed his willingness to stay at Milan, He has accepted the competition that is in the our team, and teh best in Europe. Mialn have always had the desire for Gila to stay here, and in these condition he is happy to stay. alberto ha sconfirmed with me and the problem is closed, forgotten. Now we can think of next season
Gilardino:" I am very happy with this meeting, we have cleared it all, it was very important. I am happy, and this is ateam very important, where i want to remain as long as possible. I did before and i want to now.
"I listend to Pippo, he siad to me beautiful thing. But i also listened to my other teammates che asked me to think it through. In realty i didn't have doubts: the newspapers changed my words, but the willingness to stay at Milan has always remained."
" I did and interviewto say that i didn't have any offers from any teams, and above all Inter."
Gila then spoke about all season, and the next one:
‘Il gol al Manchester? E’ una grande soddisfazione per me avere segnato il primo gol in una gara importante come la semifinale di Champions League. Il tutto coronato da una vittoria incredibile dopo un anno non facilissimo, iniziato con qualche difficoltà; poi, grazie all’appoggio del Mister e dell’impegno di noi giocatori siamo riusciti a restare uniti e a dare una grande prova di carattere, da grande squadra’.
" The goal at Manchester? It was agreat satisfaction for me I scored my frist important goal in a Semi_final Champiosn League. It all happened together with and incredible victory and in a very happy year, that started with difficulty; then, thanks to teh support of Carlo and our engagement we stayed united and gave a great try of character, of a great team."
‘A dicembre giocheremo il Mondiale per Club: la Coppa Intercontinentale l’ho vista solo qui in sede e in televisione… sarebbe bello fare qualcosa di importante. Ora abbiamo un mese di vacanze per caricare le pile e poi inizieremo a prepararci bene per la Supercoppa Europea e il Mondiale per Club’.
" In decmeber we shall play in the Club world cup; I saw it on TV... i know it is a beautiful thing of importance. Now we have a month of holiday and then we will start perparing for the supper Coppa, and Club World Cup."
Man this is awesoem news, I am so happy for him, Milan and all the fans that signed that petition. I always knew he wnated to stay and hedeserves it! FORZA GILA!
‘Ad Anversa è andato tutto bene. L’operazione è andata bene. Ora sto recuperando.

Gila going nowhere, claim Milan Friday 8 June, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Adriano Galliani insists Alberto Gilardino will stay with Milan for some time – just days after publicly putting him on the transfer market for £17m.
The striker last week revealed that he was considering his options at the San Siro after admitting that he was sick of being treated as a flop and wanted the outfit to show more faith in his abilities.
The European giants didn’t appreciate Gila’s interview, but Vice-President Galliani insists everything has been ironed out with the youngster.
“Just as Filippo Inzaghi, I believe Gila will be a Milan striker for the next 10 years,” said the official on Friday.
“I am sure that all the problems will be resolved. We met with the player, his father and his agent a few days ago and we were all very serene.
“Gila must understand that we have great faith in him, but no Milan player has ever demanded a spot in the starting line-up.
“He will be one of the four strikers in the squad next season and will have to compete with his teammates.”
The former Parma man is a reported target for Juventus, as a possible David Trezeguet replacement, but Galliani is confident that Gilardino has learned his lesson.
“He is young, strong and will be granted space like all of his teammates,” added the former Lega chief. “We would have never reached the Athens Final had we not had so many players here.
“It isn’t always a dishonour to start from the bench, but I am sure Alberto will understand all this. It is normal that he wants to play – he wouldn’t be a Milan player otherwise.”

GILA HAPPY TO STAY
6/8/2007 5:54:00 PM
Alberto Gilardino has been at Milan headquarters in Via Turati to meet Adriano Galliani, Ariedo Braida and Leonardo to confirm he wants to remain at the club
Alberto Gilardino went to Milan headquarters in Via Turati on Friday afternoon at 15.00 to meet with Adriano Galliani, Ariedo Braida and Leonardo. After 20 minutes, the striker and chief executive came out to speak to Milan Channel:
GALLIANI: ‘Gilardino has confirmed that he wants to remain at Milan, accepting the healthy competition in our team that is the best of all teams in Europe. Milan have always wanted Gila to stay here, on condition that he was happy to remain. This has been confirmed to me by Alberto and the problem is closed and forgotten. Now we'll think about next season.'
GILARDINO: ‘I am very pleased with this meeting, we chatted, it was very important. I am happy and I know how important this team is, I want to remain here as long as possible. I was before and I am even more so now. What I heard Pippo say was really wonderful. I have heard from other team-mates too and they told me to think well. I reality I had no doubts: the papers twisted my words a bit but I always wanted to remain at Milan. I have made this interview to say to everyone that I have not received an offer from any other team, even less so Inter.'
Gila then spoke about last season and the upcoming encounter:
'My goal against Manchester? It was great satisfaction to score my first goal in such an important game such as a semi-final of the Champions League. It crowned a year that wasn't that easy, which started with some difficulties but thanks to the support of the coach and the commitment of the players we remained united and showed our great character.
'We will play the Club World Cup in December, I have seen the Intercontinental Cup here in the headquarters and on television, it would be wonderful to win something important. Now we have a month's vacation and then prepare well for the European Super Cup and Club World Cup.
'The operation in Antwerp went well. I am recovering and will have some rehabilitation and will be ready for July 23.'

A.C. Milan - GILA HAPPY TO STAY
Quote:
Inzaghi 'Gilardino?
Il mio ruolo sara' part-time? Sono felice se prendiamo grandi giocatori, quelli che vengono e ci fanno vincere sono accettati. Per me gli anni passano, giochero' qualche gara in meno e bene quando saro' chiamato in causa".

Calciomercato.com | Mercato
The best part is where he says that "Gilardino will make the fortune of Milan for the next 10 years".
Plus, some more from Galliani (similar to Channel4's report):
Quote:
Galliani then dealt with the situation regarding Alberto Gilardino and agreed with Filippo Inzaghi who insisted that Alberto Gilardino can be Milan's main striker for the next 10 years: 'I believe the same and everything was fine when we spoke with him, his father and lawyer a few days ago. Gila knows we have a lot of confidence in him but no one at Milan has ever asked for a regular starting place. We will have four strikers in the squad, playing their cards with the others. He is young and strong and will have his chance alongside his team-mates. If Milan did not have such an ample squad then it would not have arrived in the final in Athens. Gilardino played well against Barcelona last season and scored against Manchester United this season. It is not a dishonour to start on the bench now and again. Alberto knows this and it's normal that a player always wants to play, otherwise he wouldn't be at Milan.'

Channel4's translation of pretty much the same thing:
Quote:
Gila takes Inzaghi advice
Friday 8 June, 2007
Alberto Gilardino reveals Pippo Inzaghi convinced him to stay at Milan after this week’s threats to walk out.
The former Parma striker had complained at the lack of faith shown in him by the club and demanded a regular spot in the starting XI, but today’s talk with officials cleared the air.
“I am very happy we had this meeting, as it was important to clarify the situation,” said Gilardino.
“I know this is an important side and want to stay here for as long as possible. That was my intention before and it is even more so now.”
However, he did reveal that there was some valuable advice given to him by one of the players challenging for that place upfront.
“I spoke to Pippo and he said some wonderful things. I also heard from other teammates who asked me to think carefully, but in truth I never had any doubts. The newspapers twisted my words, so I always wanted to stay at Milan.
“In fact, I had only given that interview to reassure the fans that I had not offered myself to any other club, let alone Inter.”
The competition for places in the Rossoneri forward line is already fierce with Inzaghi, Ronaldo and Ricardo Oliveira challenging, but Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed they are looking to bring in another world class striker.
The main target is Thierry Henry and today the Arsenal man noted he was pleased to hear of Milan’s interest.

I would say the whole "Pippo said wonderful things" story also negates the rumor about Pippo and Gila hating each other (how did THAT one start, anyway?).

Despite what he's saying it doesn't change the fact that he's a Juventino, given the opportunity he would sign for us.

He may be a Juventino, but I don't agree that he would instantly drop Milan if the chance to play for Juve came up.
The enormity of the bullshit he's been put through this season is of the kind of scale that no one who doesn't love the shirt would put up with it. In all seriousness, it was-- and still is-- that bad. I can make a list if you want.
And whenever it was at its worst, he would always make some kind of public statement about how he "wants only Milan", or do some kind of "I love this shirt" celebration. If he wanted to leave he could have done so in December, or in this recent incident, by making enough of a nuisance of himself that Milan becomes desperate to loan/sell. He's had every opportunity, but so far, he hasn't taken it.
For whatever reason and whether or not it makes any kind of logical sense, his actions-- not even just his words-- have proven him one of the most loyal Milan players in the current squad. And I stand by that, even if he does end up leaving after all, because it takes such an incredible degree of loyalty to have stayed THIS long.

Angry Ancelotti
Quote:
Gilardino Can Leave, Raps Angry Ancelotti The message from Carlo Ancelotti to Alberto Gilardino seems to be very clear: 'stop complaining and fight for a place, or pack your bags'.
Gilardino has failed to convince this season, and had hit out at the lack of faith in his abilities earlier in the weekend, insisting that he would "not confirm" his future unless offered guarantees.
His fear seems to be that with Inzaghi, Ronaldo and another top forward coming in, he will be fourth in line at best.
However, Carlo Ancelotti is clearly unimpressed with the fear, and gave the striker a piece of his mind.
"Competition must act as an incentive to do better, and not feel like a weight on your shoulders," he rapped.
"Gilardino is young, can still improve and has already scored a lot of goals. Like everyone, he has had his ups and downs."
"If he thinks he needs to go, then there is no reason why we can’t help him achieve that, as long as we find a valid alternative," quipped Ancelotti, clearly unhappy.
“Up until a few days ago he seemed relaxed and the situation was under control. He speaks of faith and fair play, but we have always put our trust in him.
"I always considered him an important player, even if at Milan competition for places is mandatory."
He then told Gilardino to learn from Inzaghi, instead of being offended at missing out on the Champions League final.
"The only player at Milan who is sure of always being first choice is Kaka," revealed Ancelotti. "Everyone should take Inzaghi as an example, a player who takes his profession very seriously.
"He is always ready and works hard no matter what, so he earned his place in the most important match. It is often said that Inzaghi is in love with the goal, but the truth is that the goal is in love with him."
Gilardino has been linked with Juventus of late.

Gila's agent Bonetto refutes the rumor that Gila has gotten rid of his agents to facilitate a move to Juve. Bonetto says that Gila is on vacation in Sardinia and Gila called him to confirm his rapport with him.
