Arrow CL: Lyon - Milan

Quote:
Maldini 'not ready' for Lyon Sunday 26 March, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Paolo Maldini made his comeback after four months out with a knee injury, but warns he probably isn’t fit enough to face Lyon on Wednesday.

“I do need to play at the moment to regain my match fitness and am at Coach Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal, but I don’t think I’ll start the game against Lyon,” noted the Milan captain.

The 37-year-old hadn’t made an official appearance since December 6 due to a recurring knee injury that some suggested would prompt an early retirement at the end of this season.

However, he played for the final 20 minutes of last night’s 3-1 win over Fiorentina and could show his face in the Champions League quarter-final in France next week.

Milan cut the gap from Serie A leaders Juventus to eight points, but Maldini is keeping his feet firmly on the ground.

“We are happy with Saturday’s results because they allow us to go five points clear of Inter in the race for second place. We are going well, but must keep an eye on realistic objectives.”

We've had a very harsh draw once again and will be facing probably the most atractive team in Europe, next to Barca. But Lyon doesn't only play attractive football, they also play efficient and intelligent football, they work as a TEAM.

This is a team that is on the verge of winning their 5th consequtive domestic title, a team that has banged 3 past Real in the group stages, a team that comfortably beated the champions of Holland and semi finalists of last season, ...

Lyon are the favourites for most people for this tie but I have confidence in our team. Having won 12 of our last 15 games and not losing once, I believe that we're facing them at the right time.

Forza Milan

I seriously can't wait for this tie...hopefully Houllier has no influence and the game just goes into attacking overdrive.

I expect us to lose this evening to be honest, Lyon hasn't lost a game at home for 3.5 years if I'm not wrong.

Well, what a feat. Escaping France with a 0-0 draw is a favourable result. Just have to win.

Decent result for Milan, but the away goal is going to be a bitch here....Milan will have a massive decision to make as far as game plan...

....maybe Berlusconi will demand all out attack.
