Milan swoop for Samuel !

Quote:
The Rossoneri are looking to bring younger faces into their defence and the main target is said to be ex-Roma man Walter Samuel.

Milan have the strongest defensive record in Serie A, but with Marcos Cafu, Paolo Maldini, Jaap Stam, Giuseppe Pancaro and Billy Costacurta all well over 30, there is need for some fresh blood.

The San Siro outfit has long been linked with Bayern Munich star Samuel Osei Kuffour. The 28-year-old Ghanaian central defender has an EC passport and is also a target for several top European clubs, as he will be out of contract at the end of this season.

However, it is reported that the primary target is a more familiar face to Serie A. Samuel was consistently impressive during his four years at Roma and earned an £18m move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2004.

The Argentine has not settled in to La Liga, picking up three red cards, and has already been linked with a move back to Italy for Inter or Juventus.

The only real stumbling block to this switch is represented by the price-tag, though Milan have been saving money over the last few years with just one big move per season.

::wow:: Not good for the opponents!!!

Maldini - Samuel - Nesta - Cafu

With Sacchi there now, I'm sure Samuel won't be going any where.

A player like Samuel doesn't just lose it over night, I think going to Milan having a partner like Nesta and a fighting player like Gattuso would give him the confidence to be great again, I don't think he'll move but if he did, he would be back to Roma levels really quickly.

I think there are five centrebacks at least who are better than him and they are all english. Ferdinand, terry, campbell, carragher, brown, upson. Oh wait there is more but I can't think of them.

But he is a clown.Too slow.AC Milan are too good for a rubbish player.
I have no idea what happend to Samuel. He's the most likely to make an error in their defence...
Look at Liverpool. They don't concede many goals, but still they have some ****e defenders.

Spør Thomsen::

People have criticised Helguera in the defence, and now Samuel. How can Madrid then have one of the best defence in Europe, when they also only have attacking midfielders and backs + a "slow" Gravesen?...thats my question.

IMO Carragher-Hyypia is class.

IMO I looking forward to see Samuel-Woody next season.

"Spør Thomsen"

Well I wasn't thinking about Carragher and Hyppia.
I was thinking more of the likes of Pellegrino,Josemi and Traore.
Apparently I've seen more Real Madrid games than you this season. The reason Real don't concede so many goals, are because they have three other defenders who is much better than Samuel.Even Helguera.

Both Carlos, Salgado and Helguera played for Real Madrid last season when the defence were horrible. I think Samuel is a player who is strong and more 'safer' than Helguera. A good defender dosent have to be very fast.

Remember that the plan for this season was a combination between Samuel as type and former Magpie Woodgate.

Pellegrino and Josemi is nothing, thats why they dont play anymore.

"AC Milan are too good for a rubbish player."

>> I think every club in Serie A will have Samuel as a part of the team.

I'm just saying that Samuel has been the worst Real defender this season.Lets just see if he gets better next season with Woodgate next to him.

>> Now I see. You used the words poor and ****e in the first inlay. Poor and **** = players like Elliot, Charlton, etc..

"He's a good defender, no disputing that..but he has sucked for Madrid so far"

>> "Sucked" is a wrong word. He havent played perfect in all 40-50 matches for Madrid this season. Since Lux joined Madrid in december, he has played very well.

This is Los Merengues last 8 matches they have played.

Real Madrid - Malaga 1-0
Albacete - Real Madrid 1-2
Real Madrid - Barcelona 4-2
Levante - Real Madrid 0-2
Real Madrid - Villarreal 2-1
Real Sociedad - Real Madrid 0-2
Real Madrid - Racing Santander 5-0
Sevilla - Real Madrid 2-2 ( Sevilla were third in la liga )

Both Samuel and Helguera has played very well in this matches, outside the Sevilla match and a little bit in the Barca match. Its easy to blame somebody out of one match, and if you guys look at his score in difference spanish, italians and norwegians papers and supportersides, he scores high and approved. But its not only Samuel who is "slow" against Baptista who perhaps is the fastest striker in La Liga. Its a reason why they are 3rd.

Real Madrids stats in La Liga: 68-31

Walter Samuel: Liga: 28(0) 12 2 2 2 6,21

Robert Carlos: Liga: 31(1) 6 0 3 2 5,84

Pavon : Liga: 13(3) 1 0 0 0 5,81

Helguera : Liga: 32(1) 6 1 0 3 6,15

Salgado : Liga: 28(0) 11 1 3 2 6,36

Raul Bravo : Liga: 13(1) 4 0 0 0 4,79

I know that Walter Samuel opened the season not that good, and that he has played some bad matches, but we can't use words like poor, ****h and "sucked" against this stats IMO.
