Ancelotti ‘untouchable’ say Milan
Quote:
Carlo Ancelotti will remain on the Milan bench even if the side end the season without any silverware.
The Rossoneri were going for the Double, but Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Juventus has seemingly left them with only the Champions’ League Final to play for.
"I’m proud of this Coach and this squad," chief Adriano Galliani told the Gazzetta dello Sport, as rumours circulate that Ancelotti could be off to Roma.
"We will continue going forward with serenity, compactness and unity: Silvio Berlusconi, Galliani and Ancelotti."
Milan’s loss to the Bianconeri was a major blow but Galliani insists the club were always primarily focused on winning in Europe.
"If at the beginning of last week someone had asked me if I would have preferred getting to the Champions’ League Final or beating Juventus, I'd have had no doubts," he added.
"I would never swap the Champions’ League for the Scudetto and I have no fear ahead of the Liverpool game. We can accomplish our seventh win.
"In Europe this season, no one has done better than us. In fact, we are top of the UEFA rankings and that is what interests me.
"In the worst case scenario, we would have won two silver medals and anybody would be happy with that.
"Yet it is clear that we want to win and the League is still open to us. Juventus will play their destiny but we must do our duty. The important thing is to fight on until the end."
