Gilardino too pricey for Milan
Quote:
Milan have told Parma that they will not meet their £35m asking price for star striker Alberto Gilardino.
The Rossoneri were believed to be in pole position for the Italian international but his valuation now seems to be a major stumbling block.
"All transfer negotiations are on hold until the end of the season," said chief Adriano Galliani. "However, the figures I’ve been reading about are out of the question."
Milan’s reluctance to dig so deep into their pockets will allow other clubs to join the chase as Parma have admitted.
"I would say that Milan, Juventus and Inter all have an equal chance of netting Gilardino," administrator Luca Baraldi stated on Italian television last night.
The reigning Italian champions may now look elsewhere for a new attacker, with two men freshly linked on Wednesday.
The first is Udinese striker Vincenzo Iaquinta who has enjoyed a wonderful season at the Stadio Friuli.
Yet boss Carlo Ancelotti is also a fan of Palermo target man and Italian international Luca Toni.
Meanwhile, Milan are set to meet with their Chelsea counterparts on Monday to discuss two transfers.
The Italian outfit want to keep Hernan Crespo on a permanent basis, while the Stamford Bridge side are keen on left-back Kakha Kaladze.

Milan could offered around £ 15m + Jon Dahl Tomasson, Cristian Brocchi and a loan of Nicola Pozzi and maybe a another player for Gila.

I've already stated my opposition to such a move.

Well if you think about it, Roman has been a disaster on the transfer market, as he's driving the prices for many players.
Look at Drogba..how much did they pay for him?

Gila has stated his desire to stay in the Appeninne in the eve of 2006 Germany World Cup. So Real and Chelski are no more than also-runs. Gila for Milan, definitely!

Read something the other day where he said he'd love to follow in the footsteps of the players he idolised as a child in Bianconero. Platini, Baggio etc.

mutu-gila would be unbelievable.

I dun think the Sheva-Gila pair would fail. If you pay attention to Milan games, when partnered with Crespo/Tomasson, Sheva usually spend most of his time outside the box, lingering on both flanks like a second striker. Should Gila join, he'd been a great centre-forward.
I must admit Ibra-Sheva sounds more promising though, the twin towers should work perfectly balance with Gila finishes the business and Ibra dancing behind him.

Saying he can't play with Sheva at this stage is somewhat premature. Gila is not Tommason or Crespo, he is much better and more smarter in my opinion.
Though both partnerships could work.
I just can't see him going to Juve at this stage, all rumours point to Milan, we'll soon find out.

shevchenko is a goalscoring lead striker.....as is gilardino....too similar. the crespo partnership has hardly been a rip roaring success.
sheva is only going outside the box because crespo is in his way. sheva isnt a good enough passer or creator to play as a 2nd striker and more importantly it would be a waste of his genius goalscoring ability to not play him as the lead striker.
