Marco Van Basten has declared himself unavailable to replace Carlo Ancelotti on the Milan bench if the latter leaves this summer.

Ancelotti’s future at the San Siro remains in doubt with strong speculation suggesting that Real Madrid are keen on his services.

Former Milan great Van Basten is understood to be a man who owner Silvio Berusconi would like to see take charge of his team, but the Dutchman insists he has other commitments.

“I’ve never even thought about coaching Milan,” said the current Holland tactician after appearing in Demetrio Albertini’s farewell game last night.

“I have a contract with the Dutch FA which has two years left to run on it and I want to continue this project up to Euro 2008.

“I can’t possibly know now what the future holds for me after that time.”

Van Basten is just one of a number of former teammates of Ancelotti who are all being associated with his job.

Barcelona boss Frank Rijkaard, sacked Livorno tactician Roberto Donadoni and Mauro Tassotti – Ancelotti’s No 2 – are all believed to be possible successors.

Ancelotti himself insisted on Wednesday that he wanted to remain at the club beyond June 2007 when his current agreement comes to an end.

Zdenek Grygera and Tomas Sivok have spoken out regarding the reported interest from Milan and Internazionale.

Ajax star Grygera joined the club from Sparta Prague in 2003 and remains under contract with the Dutch side until 2007, however, the interest from the two Milan clubs has sparked his current employers into action.

"They have offered me an extension but I want to think it over," confirmed Grygera.

"I have heard about [the Milan clubs'] interest and also that (his agent) Mr Nehoda watched Tuesday's UEFA Champions League match but I know nothing more.

"Ajax have offered me a new contract but I will consider my future.

"I have always been satisfied in Ajax but my dream has always been to play in Italy and for either Milan or Inter.

"But everything at this stage is speculation."

Sivok, meanwhile, believes that the injury that has kept him out for much of the season will ultimately cost him the chance of a move to Italy.

"It is out of the question at the moment, I haven't played for half-a-year," he said.

"I know there has been interest in the past but this has been just speculation.

"The most important thing for me is to start playing regularly again."

If given the choice, Sivok would prefer a move to Inter as he feels he would be unable to get a game at their rivals.

"It would be very hard for me. Milan's team is full of stars.

"Even Marek Jankulovski has not played much and he is a great player.

"For that reason I would choose Internazionale but I am happy just to be linked with these giants."

AC Milan are pushing to bring Chelsea striker Hernan Crespo back to the San Siro next season.

Blues striker Crespo, 30, spent last season on loan with Milan and helped fire them to the Champions League final.

But he returned to London when Milan refused to meet Chelsea's £10million asking price to make the deal permanent.

But The Sun says now coach Carlo Ancelotti is ready to try again to nab the Argentine hitman. Crespo will jump at the chance to finish his career in Italy.

He has one year of his £90,000- a-week deal to run and Milan are convinced Chelsea will sell for £5m.

Its not confirmed whether we actually want a new striker or not...if we don't then Crespo will stay.

Alessio Tacchinardi is again being linked with a move to Milan, this time according to reports in Spain.

The Villarreal midfielder, on loan at the club from Juventus, has been associated with the Rossoneri for some time.

Now the Marca newspaper insists that the European giants are ready to make a summer move for the Italian international.

They claim that boss Carlo Ancelotti has specifically asked the San Siro hierarchy for the Atalanta youth-team product.

Ancelotti highly regards the player after they spent some time together in Turin while Carletto was at the helm of Juventus.

Tacchinardi, contracted to Juve until 2008, will be keen to impress Italian eyes when his Liga outfit face Inter in the last eight of the Champions League.

Milan are reported to be considering making a move for Middlesbrough midfielder George Boateng.

The Dutch star is currently free to talk to any interested parties, as he is out of contract at The Riverside Stadium this summer.

Boateng is an essential member of Steve McClaren's side and the Boro boss is more than keen to hang-on to him.

The 30-year-old has been offered a big pay-rise by the Teessiders, but a deal has yet to be struck.

Boateng has already rebuffed overtures from former club Feyenoord, and a move within the Premiership looked the most likely option should he depart Boro.

However, Milan could now offer him a fresh option - but the chances of claiming a regular first-team berth at The Giuseppe Meazza appear slim.

Milan are looking for midfield reinforcements and Schalke's Christian Poulsen - a previous target for Boro - is known to appeal to the Italians, but Boateng could become a viable option.

Boro team-mate Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink had a similar quandary before he moved to Teesside, but he shunned the Rossoneri because he did not want to spend large periods on the substitutes bench.

The news of Milan's interest is likely to prompt Boro into further talks and many of the club's faithful will hope he is tied down soon - and will look to avoid a repeat of last summer when Boateng's compatriot Boudewijn Zenden joined Liverpool on a Bosman transfer.

Meanwhile, Milan are also said to be keeping tabs on Michel Salgado's situation at Real Madrid.

The Spanish international has four-years left on his current deal at Real, but he is failing to win a regular first-team berth and Milan could try and tempt him away.
