Materazzi in shock Milan link!!

http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...ia/jan24d.html

Quote:
Inter’s Marco Materazzi is being linked with a move to Milan as Jaap Stam reportedly wants to leave the Rossoneri immediately.

When chief Adriano Galliani said recently that the defence was not solely responsible for Milan’s weakening title bid and that the current personnel would be sufficient until the end of the season, it was assumed that no defenders would be forthcoming in the January transfer window.

It has since emerged, however, that Stam wants to leave the club now rather than in the summer – a scenario that would leave the San Siro outfit with a significant shortage of defensive options.

Milan have never been a side to hold on to want-away players. Rivaldo was allowed to leave after proving to be a disaster for Carlo Ancelotti’s men, while Christian Vieri was also permitted to sign for Monaco after just four months with the club’s blessing.

Should Stam also be granted his desire to go, Galliani and general director Ariedo Braida only have a week to find his replacement.

Andrea Barzagli has been a Rossoneri target for some time, but Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini does not see eye to eye with the Milan directors and has slapped a £7m price tag on the player.

With the Rosanero set to visit in the Italian Cup tomorrow night, discussions are likely to take place, but with Zampa still put out by President Silvio Berlusconi’s conduct over the television rights dispute, it is unlikely that any deal will be made.

It is more likely that Milan will plump for the short-term option which, incredible as it sounds, would see out-of-favour Inter stopper Materazzi arrive on loan until the end of the season.

The prospect seems unfathomable in the light of Materazzi’s numerous aggressive displays against ‘the enemy’ during Milan derbies and his apparent dislike for Inter’s city rivals.

However, World Cup year’s can provoke unexpected transfers and with Materazzi desperate to get regular football in order to secure a place in Marcello Lippi’s Azzurri squad this summer, it seems a move across town could suit all parties.

i dont like him because he cant play football other than dirty, cheap tackles. that and he is a bitch about it too, always running away after he commits a foul.

He's a alright defender, Azzurri is just bias that big nose got thumped by him twice.

In terms of this deal, it goes to show what can happen in a few short years. Milan were superior in defense, now they are asking for our backups.

Milan enter Torres scramble!!!

http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...ia/jan25e.html

Quote:
Milan have joined the race to sign Atletico Madrid’s Fernando Torres after the striker was made available for transfer yesterday.

Although the Italian giants only netted Marcio Amoroso this month, the 31-year-old is seen as a short-term solution to the departure of Christian Vieri and has only signed until the end of next season.

Torres, meanwhile, has been the subject of concerted interest from the Rossoneri for several seasons but, along with other interested clubs, have always had any approaches for the Spain international rebuffed on the basis that he was not for sale.

But one of the most sought-after strikers in European football was made available for transfer by the Madrid club on Tuesday, whose President Enrique Cerezo surprised Spain with his live television announcement. "We will consider any bid for the striker so long as it is an interesting one," he said.

The Spanish club are not enjoying the best of financial health and their change of heart regarding their home-grown superstar would appear to suggest that they will be prepared to sell to the highest bidder.

This means that Milan will face stiff competition from Real Madrid, Arsenal and, most notably Chelsea, whose owner Roman Abramovich is reported to have already tabled an offer in the region of £34m for the 22-year-old in the past.

Torres, meanwhile, is said to have a preference for Italian football and Milan’s advantage is that they enjoy excellent relations with the Spanish club.

GOOD SIGNING FFS!!

Default Milan deny Stam departure

http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?h...Stam+departure

Quote:
Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed speculation suggesting that Jaap Stam could be set for a move away from the San Siro.

The defender had reportedly stated that he would like to leave the club immediately, with a switch to his native Holland said to be his preferred option.

Inter star Marco Materazzi has been linked with the Rossoneri in recent weeks as well, fuelling the rumours that Stam's departure could be imminent.

However, Ancelotti has moved to quash the transfer talk, insisting that Stam is going nowhere and that Milan have no need for Materazzi.

"There is zero possibility of Stam leaving Milan," he declared. "He is not at my disposal at the moment because he has a slight health problem, but he should be available for Sunday.

"Materazzi is a good player, but I don't think he will be coming here, simply because we don't need him."

Ancelotti also confirmed that new signing Marcio Amoroso will be handed his first start for the club since joining from Sao Paulo in the Coppa Italia clash against Palermo on Wednesday.

"He will play from the kick-off. We are at an important time of the season where every game is important, including Coppa Italia matches."

They're asking way too much for him but let's not forget that they own us an ammount in the region of 20 million euro from previous deals.
Like I said in the other topic, fixing the defensive problems should be our priority but should there be money left, I wouldn't mind getting Sneijder or him, considering Amoroso and Pippo aren't young anymore and both are injury prone.

Torres is not going to come and sit next to Pippo whilst Sheva and Gilardino stumble along together.

Torres could come if Milan have ambitions to having a massive clear out by getting rid of Sheva and others...also he has shown desire to come to the Premiership over Serie A or La Liga for 2 years....Either Liverpool or Chelsea have a better chance if they bid.

I agree, arsenal and chelsea are more likely, but i would give the upper hand to arsenal seeing as how henry may be departing.

Well I disagree....Liverpool and Chelsea will be the two better options, however with Liverpool it depends on finance, with Chelsea it depends on Crespo and with Arsenal it depends on a mixture of finance, Weners trust in current personnel AND henry.

they turned down a 40 mil offer from chelsea did they not? what makes milan think they can acquire him, let alone afford him? not to mention they already have 2 of the best strikers in italy.
