Nantes goalkeeper Mickael Landreau is a summer transfer target for both Milan clubs, according to his agent.

The 27-year-old is coming towards the end of his contract with the Ligue 1 side and is expected to move on a free transfer at the end of the season.

A number of outfits have been linked with the French international, with Italy and the San Siro a possible destination.

“My client is being chased by Milan and Inter,” stated Alex Lablatiniere. “While there has also been contact with Arsenal and Sevilla.”

Milan are believed to be assessing their ‘keeping options for the new term given that Nelson Dida has struggled recently, while Christian Abbiati – who has spent this season on loan at Juventus – wants first team football next year.

Meanwhile, Inter are looking at the shot-stopper as they ponder what to do with Brazilian international Julio Cesar.

The former Chievo player has recently lost his place in the side to veteran Francesco Toldo and could be sold at the end of the season.

Both Arsenal and Fulham have been linked with a move for the South American custodian.

Landreau, who has played in 328 top-flight games in France, is also believed to be a target for Paris Saint-Germain.

Manuel Rui Costa will bring his Milan career to an end in favour of a return to Benfica this summer, according to reports.

Although the attacking midfielder’s contract with the Rossoneri doesn’t expire until June 2007, sources suggest that he will move back to his homeland next season.

Rui Costa has made no secret of the fact that he has always wanted to end his playing days with the Lisbon outfit.

Benfica are now said to be ready to make that happen after another frustrating season for the Portuguese ace in Italy.

The 34-year-old is now a regular on the San Siro bench given the impact made by Kaka since his arrival three seasons ago.

Rui Costa spent three years with Benfica before he moved to Serie A in 1994 when Fiorentina netted his services.

The playmaker performed for seven years at the Stadio Artemio Franchi until Milan swooped at the end of the 2000-01 campaign.

Milan have made an official move for Lazio full-back Massimo Oddo, according to reports in Italy.

The Rossoneri have been linked with the Italian for some time and a bid is now believed to have been tabled.

Milan are in need of a new right-back given that Jaap Stam has agreed to join Ajax, while Marcos Cafu is being associated with a return to Sao Paulo.

Oddo, an Italian international who scored a brace at the weekend in the 2-0 win over Sampdoria, is liked by boss Carlo Ancelotti given his offensive nature.

The Biancocelesti are understood to have maintained their stance that Oddo is not for sale and will stay until his contract expires in 2008.

However, the Rossoneri are now expected to make an improved offer for the player, thought to be in the region of £5m.

Oddo, who is pushing for a place at the 2006 World Cup Finals, actually started his career in Milan’s youth ranks.

He’s since played with success at Napoli and then Verona.

It’s also believed that Oddo, who was close to joining Juventus last summer, is being monitored by both Valencia and Tottenham.

Milan have claimed that they have no plans to buy any central defenders once the transfer window opens at the end of the season.

The Rossoneri have been linked with numerous stoppers given the imminent departure of Jaap Stam and the age of Paolo Maldini, as well as Billy Costacurta.

However, the club’s Vice-President has insisted that a new right-back – where Stam has been used during his San Siro career – is their priority.

“We are well covered in the central roles,” stated Adriano Galliani after Kakha Kaladze’s recent impressive displays there.

“If someone does come in then it will be on the right. Who will that be? We’ll have to wait and see…”

Lazio full-back Massimo Oddo is believed to be their top priority even if the capital club insist that he is not for sale.

The Italian giants have also been linked with Francois Clerc and Anthony Reveillere of Lyon, as well as their central defensive colleague Cris.

Another option for the right is Chelsea and France’s William Gallas, who is also a target for Italian giants Juventus.

Milan’s need for a new player in that position could become even greater if rumours that Marcos Cafu will rejoin Sao Paulo turn out to be true.

Milan chief officer Adriano Galliani has once again played down speculation linking the club with Lyon defender Cris.

Galliani says the club are looking to bolster their right side before making any move for a central defender.


"We are not talking with any central defenders, our main intentions are on the right," he confirmed to Sky Italia.


"We don't talk about the transfer market until the end of the season."


Milan will lose Dutch defender Jaap Stam to Ajax in the summer and Galliani says the club are likely to move for a centre back, but it is not one of their priorities.


"We will replace Stam but we don't know who with."

Every Milanista I know is very concerned about their defense. The only point of discussion is whether they need to replace two players or more and which replacements they should get.

The number one target for the Milan defense is Cris of Lyon, who is allegedly 90% sure to arrive

They need a better partner for Nesta than Khaladze and they need a right back....Khaladze will be OK for now as the left back (whether he likes it or not).

I don't think Cris is good enough personally, no matter how good Nesta is and I am highly surprised they haven't gone for Luisao.

Lupoli dismisses exit talk
Arsenal striker Arturo Lupoli claims he would turn down the chance to join Milan if they approached him. The former Parma youngster, although a big Milan fan, is currently happy to stay in London. “It's true, I am a Milanista,” he admitted. “However, today I play for Arsenal and if they want me I will stay here for a very long time. It all depends on the plan that Coach Arsene Wenger has in mind for me. Italy interests me but I am very happy here. I'm now fully acclimatised in London.”

Milan and Chelsea are fighting it out on the transfer market for Barcelona’s Rafa Marquez, according to reports.

The Mexican international is understood to be hot on the wish lists of both clubs who are said to be willing to spend up to £7m for the player.

The Rossoneri like the look of the Central American who can play both in central defence and central midfield.

He would therefore provide cover for the San Siro giants at the back, but may also be used as an alternative for Andrea Pirlo in midfield.

The club have no natural replacement for Pirlo who sits in front of the defence and orchestrates the play from a deep midfield position.

It’s unclear at this stage whether either Marquez or Barcelona are pondering a separation at the end of this term.

He's a class player and it's that reason why I don't think Barca will sell him, especially not for £7m. I can see why Milan would want him though because his ability to play in defence and midfield is invaluable.

Nah, I don't see this happening for a variety of reasons.

Milan will look for a "made in Italy" solution, in other words, hunt Serie A for a temp fix.
