Did I start a rumor?

United are reportedly furious with Real over their continued interest Cristiano Ronaldo and have even reported the Spanish club to Fifa over what they perceive to be an over-aggressive pursuit of their player.

It has now emerged that should Ronaldo decide he does want to swap Old Trafford for the Bernabeu, United will bid for Sneijder or more likely, ask him to be included as part of the deal that takes Ronaldo to Madrid.

Although United are desperate to keep hold of Ronaldo they may be forced to let him leave the club if Real offer a world record bid of €70 million and should the player reveal his desire to move to Madrid.

The Dutch midfielder is currently hot property after scoring two sumptuous goals already in Euro 2008 which have helped to propel his country into the knockout stages of the tournament.

Sneijder signed for Real from Ajax last summer for €27 million making him the second most expensive Dutch player in history. He went on to enjoy a successful first season in Spain, scoring on his debut and helping Real to retain their La Liga title.

Whilst there is no indication that Sneijder wants to leave the Bernabeu, should Ronaldo arrive he may find his place in the starting line up under threat, and he would certainly interest Sir Alex Ferguson as a potential replacement for Ronaldo at Manchester United.

in my opinion, he was real's best player for most of the games i saw him in. he seems to always be one step ahead of the game... always makes quick passes. i would LOVE HIM at united... in fact, i would probably want him ahead of any other player at real, probably even ahead of ramos.

Who to believe? While The Sunday Mirror, rejecting public opinion, says that 'Cristiano Ronaldo will still be a Manchester United player next season', The Observer has claimed that the Portuguese forward agreed the terms for his move to Real Madrid 'months ago'.

Manchester United have, so far, strenuously denied that Ronaldo will leave and the Mirror reckons that 'Sources close to Ronaldo say he has accepted that a dream move to Real Madrid is not going to materialise.'

The source is quoted as saying: "Talk of a move to Madrid has undoubtedly turned his head and unsettled him. But Ronaldo will not incur the wrath of United by making any demands on the club or threatening to take action that would leave him in breach of his own contract."

However, in sharp contrast, The Observer depicts Ronaldo's predicted transfer to Madrid as a done deal. It claims that the personal terms of the deal were agreed 'a long time ago' and announces: 'Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes is now understood to have finalised all the key details with executives from the Spanish club.'

"They have been talking for at least two months and it was all agreed with Real Madrid weeks ago," an Old Trafford source told the newspaper. "All this chat from [Real president] Ramón Calderón that he does not want to upset Manchester United, and Cristiano Ronaldo cannot be bought because he belongs to another club, is absolute rubbish. Discussions have gone way beyond the point of no return. Sir Alex Ferguson knows this now so you can imagine how it has gone down."

According to the newspaper, 'This explains United's decision to lodge a formal complaint with Fifa, claiming that Ronaldo has been tapped up; a threat that, although announced occasionally by clubs, is rarely acted upon.'

However, the twist in The Observer's tale is that the source describes Sir Alex Ferguson as adamant he will not lose Ronaldo. "I don't think he would sell even for £100 million," the source claimed.'

to be honest, i think i would have to at least CONSIDER a deal like that... even though i didnt want to lose CR. i mean, ramos and sneijder are both world class...

From what I've seen of Ramos, he's not a very good defender, but great going forward. I'm no sure he would fit too well in England.

So ... to add more fuel to the fire, one of the tabloids in England reports that if Twinkletoes is sold to Real without SAF's consent ... SAF will walk out at OT. So if you put all the rumors together, you'd have Twinkletoes leaving for Real, Quieroz leaving for Portugal, and SAF simply leaving and heading off to the pub...
