Hargreaves is not the future. You don't pay £17m for a decent defensive midfield to them stick him at right back just to fill a gap.
Hargreaves provides us with a very useful third option for right back though. With Gaz back next season, Wes having signed a new contract (although it shouldn't be forgotten he is primarily our 3rd choice centre back not our 2nd choice right back) and we do have 'young' Simpson.
I wouldn't be surprised if we signed another right back but it all depends on how good Simpson is. If we sign a new RB it means Simpson doesn't have a future at OT.

From what Mr Ian Mcgower says, we agreed twice during passed 12 months with Alves to sign , but Sevilla wanted 25+ million which is why we wentwith the 2nd option Bosingwa, but he also said United could proberly sign him for 10 million cheaper , which just goes to show there is a Chelsea price and europe price.
Apprently Chelsea only major club in Europe that pay money upfront.
He says won't be supraised if you sign three players within next two weeks, as we are going to sign two players in next 10 days, beleied to be Moutinho and Dos Santos.. :O interesting!

I expect us to get our transfer dealings done pretty early on this summer - we did last year and this year we'll want it done before Euro 2008 as if anything the Euro's will drive prices up.
As for Chelsea being the only big club to pay up front - it figures. They can afford to others can't: paying up front would mean having the sort of figures we're talking about (£15m+) in the bank gathering dust; money that would better serve being invested in the business.

omg Trundle.
You guys offerd 15 million on saturday for Bosingwa, but he went to us as portguesse clubs like money up front, Chelsea do that, as you would of done something like 5 million up front , then down to playing time etc...
I think you probs sign Ramsey, quallity youngster.

I would love Richards or Alves. Doubt it will happen though.
I would be happy with Lahm as well.

True, but Hargreaves is actually a pretty good RB and RB's a very hard to find these days, at least at a good price, whereas DM's there are loads.
If you transform Hargreaves into a RB, it will make sense to sign Veloso.
Problem with that is, since Neville will be the starter and Hargreaves would be number 2, Brown wwould definitely play CB, so Pique wouldn't have many chances to play..

he's not just "filling a gap" if he's the best option there!!!!!!!!!!!!! when hargreaves played right back this season, he was absolutely outstanding... crossing, getting forward, tackling, positional sense... hes great at rb! i think you are having trouble with this idea, and i cant see why. there was not a better rb in the premier league this season than hargreaves when he played there...
im just not sure why you are struggling with that idea.

still all of it pointing in all directions.and its actually good .
our club has mastered the art of making silent deals and i see the same now.almost every paper in europe is speculating some one, hard to tell who we MIGHT have already signed and just waiting to be reveled.
well im quite lost as to who we will bring, but after the final i think it might indicate some thing.

Used to be a very good full-back, 2 or 3 years ago Chelsea and co were looking at him because of his pace and ability to join attacks but do well defensively, similarly to Evra I guess.
But as the Spanish members would point out, he's a smoker and drinks a lot. Didn't play much or very well this season, and isn't the Portuguese starter any more either.
Wouldn't be a good influence in the team.

i was doing some thinking today...
i still dont think a RB is a need... neville, hargreaves, brown, simpson, and others (oshea and even evra/silvestre) can all play there
BUT, i am now thinking that a winger is a necessity... i dont know why i thought otherwise before (i was of the opinion that only a striker was a necessity).
next season, ronaldo and park are the only two returning wingers that i "trust" as everyday performers. nani is too young... needs at least one more season. giggsy will continue his natural decline... hes NOT an every-day player anymore. he is still a tremendous asset, but i think that coming off the bench will suite him beautifully next season.
the problem is: i dont know who united should chase to be a 3rd option (and to compete with JSP for a starting11 spot). any ideas? i am thinking in the 10-15million range...
and for striker transfer options... who does everyone want to see at united? huntelaar sounds very nice, but i havent seen him play too much (probably only 3-5 times).
