nah carrick is not just "good".he proved it last season.one of the exiting elements we had last season.this season it wasn't that rosy for him but he is back to what he used to be, and if he cont at his current rate improving he could surpass his excellent 1st season.

Yeah, Carrick will never be as good as Gerrard until his 50 yard passes stop finding their intended target and start finding some poor soul in the crowd 12 rows back.
I genuinly wouldn't swap Carrick for Gerrard, and as for Lampard...ha!
The one thing Carrick and Anderson are short of is goals. We remain too reliant on the front 3 for goals, we're going to be fucking frightening when the midfield start adding some.

OH OH OOH! It's Carrick you know! Hard to believe it's not Scholes!

And Carrick will never make England squad ahead of Lampard and Gerrard because? He doesn't have that unique quality that separates him, he's standard.

In my opinion Carrick's passing - long and short - is better than Gerrard or Lampard. Gerrard and Lampard are different types of players - they are more goalscoring midfielders than anything else. Carrick has the quality to sit deep and open up defences in tight matches with his passing - whether it is 10 yards or 50 yards.
He still needs to improve other aspects of his game though, like scoring more goals. He played for Spurs for a couple of years and I think he only scored two for us - I know he has since scored a few for United but still not really enough for a midfielder with the talent that he has.
I have noticed his game is improving rapidly over the last few months and I definitely agree that the strongest central midfield two at Old Trafford are Carrick and Anderson.

Yes, because the shining beacon of success that is the England squad definitely shows how good or bad a player is.
Theo Walcott was one of the top 4 strikers in England at the end of 2006 as well, and Arteta isn't that good either because he's never played for Spain...
Carrick doesn't have the reputation or loud mouth to overtake Lampard or Gerrard atm, because he gets the job down without making a fuss about anything, rather than taking every opportunity to do a media routine or release a book. As such he might be overlooked by England every now and then, but that doesn't make him a bad player.

I didn't say he was a bad player, he does his job in the middle and that's all fine and dandy, but my point was will he ever be looked at as a world class mid, I don't think he will.

I think its all good performing well against Newcastle and Arsenal but they were two poor oppositions. I know our team played great but the real test is in Fulham away, Derby away and Liverpool home along with the Lyon/Pompey games in the cups. We always struggle against the teams at the bottom end of the table especially away from home and i think we will need to see more of Carrick in these games.
Scholes at the moment is finding his feet, i think he still needs a few games to find his full fitness but i think Anderson should be first team regular in our midfield atm.

Carrick is the best English player at passing the ball.
Just needs to shoot more. He has a good shot on him.

The England team is a joke. They played the best English MF of his generation (One of the best in Europe), Scholes, at LM. He shits on Gerrard and Lampard from a great height.
Carrick is similar in his approach to the game off the field and as such is in a similar boat Scholes found himself in.

Carrick is the best midfielder at what he does. Passing.
Anderson and Scholes have a bit more about them.
For England, I think that Carrick and Gerrard would be a great combination.

It won't happen, as Barry is ahead of Carrick.

BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Man Utd | Man Utd trio agree new contracts
It's been a good day for United, he's been massive for us this season despite a poor start to the season. Even with Hargreaves' arrival he's made himself #1 as the holding midfielder.
