EPL: Liverpool 0-1 Manchester United [16.12.2007]
On Sunday 16 December 2007 the 4 best teams in the Premier League go head to head.
I think we can beat the scousers, especially after watching their pathetic performance against Reading. Gerrard was once again pissed off at being subbed. Or was this a ploy by Rafa to wind Gerrard up for the game against us ?
Chelsea are playing well and the goons have only taken 4 points from their last 3 games. All away and without Cesc, Hleb, van Persie and Flamini. But, shit happens............
I think Chelsea might nick it against the goons, but a draw would do us.
What are your views on what could be a massive Sunday in the destination of OUR trophy ?
Discuss........

I assumed you meant Sunday 16 December 2007, rather than September.
Basically agree in that we should beat Liverpool (which Hargreaves should be fit for btw) and that Arsenal will struggle big time. I predicted a little while ago that Arsenal would slip up banana-skin style after their first league defeat, and I'm hoping I was right, obviously.

Oh dear, I did mean December obviously. Thanks for amending it.
I think if Chelsea win, Arseholes could collapse.
And we'll be there...................

Boro beat them, so I'm hoping that they are in collapse right now. It certainly will hurt them; when an unbeaten run is ended the team is vulnerable. It depends on how they'll respond. Having a young side with William Gallas as the leader may catch up with them here.
But Liverpool will still be tough to face for us. Their forward line will be a worry, with Torres on form and Crouch getting both form and starts, a rarity for many players under Benitez.
Vidic and Ferdinand will be very important in this game, and as it has been every time we face them, the CMs will have to be excellent. Anderson has a chance to really show what he's about here. His partner will be just as important, if not moreso, in covering the backs and giving Anderson a chance to create - whether that player will be Hargreaves or Carrick isn't clear, though.

Couldnt care less about the other game, if we lose to the dippers i am going to be in depression for a week. If we win them, its the greatest feeling in the world.
We have to go there and try to rattle them, its a tricky game but the fact we got a weeks rest and they have to play in mid week will work in our favour.

Why does one loss mean a collapse? United just lost to bottom of the table team as well in Bolton recently, but that obviously doesn't mean they're in a collapse. I think the loss is more due to injuries now, as Fab, Hleb, Flamini, Van Persie are all injured rather than being a young team or a lack of leadership. Hopefully some will be back by Sunday (pretty sure Fab and Hleb are definitely out though), but we'll see.

You've left London 6 times this season and have only taken 9 points. You're not going to come close to winning the league if that continues.

I'd usually be very optimistic about playing ManU at the moment. Liverpool's form has been very good recently and if things had panned out normally would have gotten 3 points from Reading and everyone would have said, not the best performance but deserved...
The most worrying thing however is that Carragher will be missing. With both Agger and Carragher missing the slow Hypia and the very inexperienced Hobbs playing against the likes of Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez and co I can't imagine Liverpool keeping a clean sheet!

Carragher is missing?
I think Liverpool's midweek came is too our advantage despite how big a game, the match on Sunday is, their game tonight is even bigger. What with Benitez already having pissed off his bosses and with how important CL money is these days.
I reckon we'll win at the weekend. We are in good form, the lads will be really motivated and I just think when we're playing well we're simply a better team than them.
My only concern is the amount of chances we've wasted this season. Yes we have knocked in 4 in quite a number of games this season but even in most of those we could/should have scored double that. Look at the Derby game for what I mean - all that domination and possession and it still took us pretty much 40 minutes of constant attack before we scored.

well said russ , we need to take the chances that we create or we will be left to rue them since wth a big team like the dippers these chances wont come that easy so every singe one needs to give us the max output s it could be our savior at the end of the day.

Yes, his yellow card at Reading means he is suspended for the match on Sunday...

Normally I'd agree that our midweek game and your friendly are an advantage for you but the fairly easy 4-0 win would also have put the confidence back in the team after Reading.
I actually think this could be quite an exciting high scoring affair with both teams scoring for fun recently in the PL!
Hopefully Gerrard and Torres will prove their class and Hobbs can do a decent job with grandad Hypia!

I think you should be worried about the other game,
Chelsea on form, best form in EPL. Players we missing as well, when they come back.
