Default When SAF Retires (Part 2)............

Can Admin do a poll for this ?

When SAF retires, should he be retained upstairs as some sort of Director of Football ?

Or should he be made to cut all links to the footballing side after retirement ?

Obviously he will stay at Manchester United in some capacity, but should he be allowed to have a say in the new manager's footballing plans ? Would a new manager be happy with that ?

So the poll should read: -

SAF to continue upstairs in a Director Of Football role.

SAF to completely remove himself from the footballing side after retirement.

I'd like to have him around, although I'm not completing sure about a "Director of Football" role. Something a little more laid back than that.

Cheers Joel.

I voted that he should completely remove himself from the footballing side as I don't think our next manager would appreciate the shadow of SAF over them as they try to emulate his achievemants.

If it's Keano, I would think that Keano would ask for his advice when he needed it, but I don't think he would appreciate SAF advising him if he didn't feel that he needed it.

A more established manager like Jose definitely wouldn't take the job if SAF was to remain as a Director of Football.

Fair point, and that's one of the reasons I wouldn't have him as "Director of Football," as that's still a very involved role.

Ferguson will only leave the manager post when he's ready, so that may mean he'd be looking to leave altogether anyway.

But in an upstairs position, it gives an additional bit of progression, should Quieroz get it. SAF manager and CQ asst, to SAF Director of some sort, CQ manager and whoever he wants as asst would ease the transition better for him I think, as Ferguson would still be there for his assistance when nessasary for a while.

I don't think SAF will leave completely. He'll be given some title, maybe as President or something, like Sir Matt.

It'll be a sad day when he finally retires as manager though.
