When SAF retires........................
I don't remember if this has ever been done on here, but it would be very interesting to see who we would all like to see replace SAF when he retires in the near future.
Can the Administrators make this a sticky and do a poll ?
If a poll is done, vote for your favourite.
The managers below should be in contention but feel free to add any that you think I've missed out.
Mark Hughes
Roy Keane
Steve Bruce
Gordon Strachan
Bryan Robson
Fabio Capello
Marcello Lippi
Martin O'Neill
Jose Mourinho
Steve McLaren
Sven Goran Eriksson
Harry Redknapp
Sam Allardyce
Ottmar Hitzfeld
Juande Ramos
Guus Hiddink
Carlos Queiroz
Frank Rijkaard
Marco van Basten
Eric Cantona (!!!!)
I know some of those ^^^^ don't have a hope, but I'm just making the list as big as possible to give us all a choice.
If the poll could be up and running soon, we could all make our choice.
Cheers Admin !!

Poll
The poll's been added now.
And I think we can rule out Redknapp, Bruce, Robson, McClaren, Eriksson & Cantona ( ) now...

Only three come close to SAF' greatness in managment. They are Capello, Lippi and Mourinho.
The only one there that plays anything that can be described as 'entertaining' and that is Lippi. He always gives the flair players the freedom.
Keane is obviously the fans favourite.

I'd certaily think Quieroz will get at least a year in the job - it depends how much he learns between now and **the time** if he'd keep that job. After that, it'd probably be Keane, as A, he's the fan favourite, B, he knows the place, and C, he'd be in it for the long haul, being only 35 now.
The most "qualified" would be Lippi, Capello and Mourinho, but Mourinho hasn't stayed it one place for more than 3 years, 4 months, Capello would sell all but 2 of our creative players and replace them with big French players and maybe an Italian, then bore us to death with his refined 8-2-1 system, making everyone at the club that they'd all leave along his way. Lippi, great, but remember that his clock is 7 years behind SAF, and I don't see him managing to 67 as well.
Most teams who have done very well in the Premiership have not recruited managers who have been top-league winners in Spain, Italy or England. Ferguson himself earne his credentials by miraculously breaking Glasgow with Aberdeen, Wenger came from the the J-League. Mourinho, is one of the few to have come to England with a CL medal behind him.
Personally, although Roy Keane would be brilliant, I probably wouldn't appeal against Mourinho taking over. He's got consistent success everywhere, including in the Premiership, builds a great atmosphere and speaks in metaphors 3/4s of the time. Only issue is, he doesn't look like the type of manager for the type of side we have set up for the next few years.

My money would definetely be on Quiroz.
No top manager in their right mind would take the job right after Ferguson, too much to lose and any manager following Ferguson WILL fail, simply because he has been there too long and any manager trying to go to Old Trafford and using their own style will be too much change for the club as a whole. That is also why I think Ferguson didn't retire a few years back because no top manager would take the job and Ferguson knows how difficult it will be for any manager following in his footsteps...

I went for Keane, simply because I like it when old players manage their clubs Weather he'll be anywhere close to good enough to do the job by then remains to be seen I guess...

He seems to be doing alright as of now... I know he has a long way to go but he is on track.
Keane got my vote.

i really believe that quieroz is going to get a chance... maybe with keane underneath him? that would be sort of a natural progression. saf --> quieroz (for a few years, hes getting up there in age) --> keane

Most managers don't adapt to their players, they make the players adapt to them, like what Mourinho did at Chelsea; having his players all chase back, cutting a few pages out of Joe Cole's trick book, etc.

Absolutely true. But there are certain managers are more brave than clever.
