Owen Hargreaves
AsianHandicap.com – Your Guide To Asian Handicap Betting
Quote:
Bayern Munich want a massive £21 million for England international Owen Hargreaves should they sell him in the summer.
Hargreaves has been a long-term target of Manchester United and The Times says they will have to break the bank to sign him.

It's still a ridiculous price though.

I hope we don't pay that. He isn't worth it.

Does anyone think, now, that Ferguson has lost interest in Hargreaves? I think he's always wanted him to take Scholes' position in the side in time, but the cenre-midfield pairing of Scholes and Carrick, and lately even Fletcher and Carrick, has been very impressive. The fitness of those 3 players, especially, has been fantastic this season - Carrick in particular is always available for selection. Hargreaves, on the other hand, has had an unlucky season with injuries - and has suffered them a lot in the past. Scholes, Carrick and Fletcher haven't failed us at all this season, with O'Shea also able to provide good cover there as well. This huge price tag could be the last straw of our interest - £20m plus on a player who'd be in rotation is a lot to pay, especially when there ar others capable of the job. When Hargreaves gets it right, he's brilliant, but he has put in terrible performances in the past - pre-World cup for England he was shocking.
Ferguson wanted Essien, but refused to pay over £17m - and that was before we got Carrick in. He also refused to pay up Lyon's £18m valuation on Diarra. What makes Hargreaves so special that we'll pay even more on him than those other players?

Carrick's recent performance can save this deal not to go through. That's your hope because it's wrong to pay £21 million for a player who I guess will struggle to get into United's first team.

He will struggle. He won't displace Carrick or Scholes on a regular basis and Fletcher has shown recently that he can mix it with the best too.

£15m is ok, but maybe just maybe we can go as far as 16 and thats it.he wont displace carrick but we certainly need some one to back scholes, though as russel pointed out we still have fletch but can he maintain his performence and secure a regular place and not becoz of injuries or suspension to the other squad members.

hargreaves is simply not good enough for anywhere near a 21million price tag... i rate him about 13-15million and nothing more. if i was in charge at united, i wouldnt even pay 12million for him because he is NOT needed at the moment. scholes, carrick, fletcher, and oshea (and even giggs!) have done extremely well there this season. I just dont see where hargreaves is fitting into the united side... if united are going to spend 20million, go for a game-changer--i think etoo might even be available for around 21million!!! who would you rather have... hargreaves or etoo??? hahahahaha

Bayern lost today again and looks like they might not even get into the champions league, so they will have to sell in the summer to get some new players. I reckon £12m will get Hargreaves.

It's a very good point. Bayern loosing today means they are pretty much out of the CL next season so will be more inclined to listen to reasonable offers.
