Forest Still In The Hunt For United Starlet

Quote:
21-year-old Lee Martin is known to be wanted by Nottingham Forest. However, they will have to move quickly to secure his signature as both Birmingham City and Sheffield United are reportedly ready to swoop. Due to the added competition, it is unlikely that Forest will be able to land Martin before the Carling Cup tie with Morecambe tonight.

Although Martin can play up front, he is most comfortable on the wing. Therefore, Colin Calderwood is also looking elsewhere for a new goal-scorer.

Forest signed Rob Earnshaw, Andy Cole and Joe Garner over the summer, but the latter two, as well as fellow striker Nathan Tyson, are currently injured. The crocks have left Calderwood short in attack.

From what I've seen of him he's good technically but I don't think this is a future United player, maybe another loan would be a good option but we'll see.

Go ahead and sell him now, he has no future here. A couple of years ago, he looked like he was a guaranteed future first teamer, but he has clearly regressed.

Martin moves to Forest

Young Reds winger Lee Martin has joined Coca-Cola Championship outfit Nottingham Forest on a month's loan.

Martin was thrust straight into the Forest squad for Wednesday night's Carling Cup clash with Morecambe at the City Ground.

The 21-year-old winger, who United signed from Wimbledon as a 16-year-old, figured heavily on the Reds' pre-season trip to Africa, scoring against Orlando Pirates.

Martin has had previous loan spells with Royal Antwerp, Glasgow Rangers, Stoke City, Plymouth Argyle and Sheffield United.

Forest's website said that manager Colin Calderwood was "delighted" to have beaten competition to sign the tricky winger.

Martin becomes the fifth United player to head out on loan so far this season. He joins Danny Simpson (Blackburn), Craig Cathcart (Plymouth), Febian Brandy (Swansea) and Tom Heaton (Cardiff).

Forest drew 0-0 against Reading in their first game of the new season.

another chance for him to prove the doubters wrong and try to break in to the 1st team.

Sunderland manager Roy Keane appears to have conceded defeat in his bid to take United defender Jonny Evans to Wearside in a permanent deal.

The 20-year-old Northern Ireland international impressed during two loan spells with the Black Cats, helping them attain Premier League status in 2006/07 and preserve it last term.

Sir Alex Ferguson has always resisted any temptation to permanently part with the promising young centre back, however, even in the face of rumoured multi-million pound bids from Keane.

For the Sunderland boss, United's sale of Gerard Pique to Barcelona represented the end of his chase for Evans.

"My mindset was always that Jonny was going to go back to United," said Keane. "When United sold Pique we were pretty sure they would hold on to Jonny."

Evans featured during United's pre-season campaign, and is expected to remain part of Sir Alex's first team plans as the Reds start the defence of the Double this weekend

we will be seeing evans more perhaps.to be on the safe side he should remain wth us and prevent similar shortage we are having up front and down the flanks when it comes to the defense.

Hull move for Man Utd's Campbell

Quote:
Hull City have made a 'substantial' offer for Manchester United's young striker Frazier Campbell, reports BBC Radio Humberside.

The 20-year-old spent seven months on loan at Hull last season and scored 15 league goals as they gained promotion to the Premier League.

Tigers boss Phil Brown has previously stated his desire to bring Campbell back to Hull permanently.

Sunderland defender Paul McShane is also reportedly set to join on loan.

Campbell was included in Manchester United's squad to play Zenit St Petersburg in the Super Cup final on Friday.

Tottenham's Dimitar Berbatov has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, while fellow striker Louis Saha is poised to move to Everton.

While Saha's exit may open an opportunity for Campbell at United, Berbatov's potential arrival could further hinder Campbell's chances of becoming a first-team regular.

This definitely won't happen if no new striker is signed. I hope it doesn't happen even if we do get one though.
