But before you misquote me, where did I say being wasteful is good?

Sorry, had you confused with Jlae11.

It doesn't matter if you're wasteful as long as you manage to score like Ronaldo does. But being wasteful itself is not a desirable attribute - that's the point I've been trying to make.

putting words into my mouth...

let me try to clarify what i think about ronaldo: one of his most "desirable" traits (and the characteristic that separates him from everyone else on the planet) is his tendency to be selfish... which works incredibly well with mr. rooney (and tevez) because he has a tendency to be more passive (rooney was 3rd in the epl in assists).

ronaldo has an incomparable desire to FINISH. I want ronaldo taking the shots as opposed to passing to be honest. he is NOT wasteful with the ball, and it is ludicrous to claim that after he scored 41 goals this season.

we are really splitting hairs by asking ronaldo to be more passive... that would essentially be taking away the quality that REALLY puts CR above kaka/messi, which is ridiculous. hk, be honest, if ronaldo played at your club, would you HONESTLY want ronaldo to pass more when given an opportunity to score???? i dont think so...

Two questions:

What is Cristiano's principle position?

Answer - Winger

What is a winger job description?

Creates chances for strikers, provide width to attacks and make crosses, trackback and help fullbacks in defensive situations.

Ronaldo does none of these things.

Being selfish is not in a wingers job description.

Look at Ronaldo's shot totals for the season. far far more off target than on target. Why? Because he's a selfish, greedy prick who only cares about himself, as shown by his comments after his penalty miss against Barca.

He's nowhere near Kaka or Messi you clown. Both, among others, are vastly superior to him.

He hasn't been a proper winger for 2 seasons at least, and I was surprised it took Fergie so long to work out he wasn't ever going to be a winger either.

Ergo he's a bad player because he doesn't fit the status quo?

It used to be that he was shit because he had no end product. Now he has bags of end product that is the reason he is shit - he scored to many goals!

If Ronaldo was shooting as much as he does and not scoring you'd have a case; he is far too selfish for a winger - a role that is primarily meant to be that of provider - however he doesn't play as a winger (he plays more as a 'wing forward') and you can't criticise someone for shooting too much when they score 41 goals in the highest scoring team in the league.

Ronaldo took 250 shots, 130 of which were on target. Ratio is 0.52

To compare, Torres took 128 shots, with 74 on target. Ratio is 0.57

The difference is shooting accuracy is marginal, very similar between the players. From Ronaldo's wing-forward role, he has almost as high an on-target ratio as Torres, the CF. If you're as accurate as a top class CF, then you're perfectly inclined to shoot. Nevermind the fact he has 41 goals. He's also got 8 assists, which is a better output for creativity than any of you wingers.

41 goals and 8 assists is some kind of end product.

I think Ronaldo has just won the Uefa golden boot(Shoe) with his 31 league goals this season.

Scott McDonald could still win the award. He's only 17 goals away.
