Buying Tevez makes no sense, thought they wanted an out and out striker, so I don't see this happing.

Exactly. I don't see why we'd want another attacker who isn't an out and out forward. We have Rooney, Anderson, Ronaldo, Giggs, Nani and Park of that role, no need for Tevez.

Agreed, it does seem a little strange being linked with Tevez who is an attacker who likes to run from deep etc I don't class him as a classic goal poacher of the RVN status.
My thought is that Utd need a target man, a guy who sits around the box, can hold the ball up, lay it off and will guarantee you 20+ goals a season. Of course these names have been thrown round a lot a la Huntelaar, Berbatov etc.
I do like Tevez and think he is a superb player, but where would he fit into the United team?!?!?!?
The news and reports are all over the press etc.

Two different stories have spread - one is that we've agreed to sign him for £20m, and another is that we're on the vege of getting him on a 12 month loan deal with option to buy at the end of the season, similar to Liverpool's arrangement over Mascherano.

Tevez Agrees To Join Manchester United
Carlos Tevez reportedly agreed to join Manchester United last night in a permanent deal worth more than £20 million, according to The Daily Mail, which broke the news from Venezuela on Wednesday night (Thursday morning UK time).
The Mail claims that the transfer will be completed next week, subject to any challenge from West Ham, who insist that they still own the registration of the player who was instrumental in securing their Premiership survival last season, but whose third-party ownership created a furore in England that is still rumbling on.
The Hammers, though, do not have a contract with Tevez and the owner of his registration, businessman Kia Joorabchian, leaving the Argentiner star and his representative free to negotiate a transfer with other clubs.
If confirmed, the news from South America, where Tevez is with Argentina's Copa America squad, means that United will have taken their summer buying spree beyond £70 milion - making them world football's biggest spenders.
Tevez, who was once fined while playing for Corinthians for turning up to one of the Brazilian club's press conferences wearing a Manchester United shirt, is a close friend of United's Argentine defender Gabriel Heinze. Tevez was reportedly a guest at United's Premiership title-winning party in London.
"He just cannot contain his excitement at the news," said a source close to the Argentina camp.
"Tevez has been concerned about his future, worried about where he may play next season and now he is joining the biggest club in the world! This is massive news."
The Mail reports that United were hoping to keep news of the transfer quiet until the controversy over Sheffield United's appeal against being relegated instead of West Ham, who it is claimed should have lost points for fielding Tevez, died down.
The paper adds that the deal will not be officially announced until the middle of next week, with the official transfer fee and wages still to be confirmed.
United have already signed Portuguese winger Nani and Brazilian midfielder Anderson on five-year contract, and have brought in England midfielder Owen Hargreaves from Bayern Munich. The total cost of those three deals is reportedly £50 million.
Tevez had also been linked with Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Arsenal, although West Ham had been hoping to keep him.

I really don't see a problem if this is true. I know people say it'd be like having two Rooneys in the same side - to me that sounds absolutely brilliant. I don't really see why having two technically excellent players who are blessed with incredible skill and talent in the same team playing in similar positions is a bad thing.

Alot of people seem convinced SAF is going to use a similar tactic Roma play. Tevez/Rooney will be your Totti - who isn't an out and out CF.
Tevez is a very good player. Will only make your squad better.

Yeh everyone has been saying that Tevez is too similar to Rooney and that Man Utd need an out and out striker.

My biggest concern with Tevez is the murky situation around his registration. The whole MSI / Kia Joorabchian thing is entirely too suspect. I can't see MSI relinquishing their ownership "rights" to Tevez outright - there's just too much money to be made there down the road.
