Carrick was overvalued as well, but at least he was more talented to begin with.
Take away Hargreaves England performance last summer, and your not left with much, imo.

Well Giggs and Ronaldo must have been out of their depth yesterday. Fletcher had a better game than both (played a few really good balls to Rooney, one wrongly ruled off for offside) and helped against Robben. See doesn't work like that.
And as you say, he isn't even a right winger.

I think Ronaldo struggled because he had 2 men on him, he beat Ferreira a couple of times, usually the times he did was on the counter when he smacked the ball down the line and just chased it, but he didn't make the right decisions at the right time again yesterday, he cut inside when he should have stayed wide and crossed and he went wide and waited too long before trying to cross so it didnt work.
I wasn't happy with Giggs' performance. He honestly didn't seem to be putting in 100%, whether that's because he's tired or not is a different matter, phenomenal player, phenomenal servant to the club, but just wasn't at the races yesterday.
@ azzurri, ur right, Hargreaves isn't overly talented, he's nothing spectacular, but he's something we don't have, and he will bring something crucial to our team, similar to what Gattuso brings to Milan, maybe not in the same class but he plays the same role.

He would be a great signing, he would give something UTD need, that's balance in the middle for big games, You can't always run sake teams to ground.
hHe's gonna give 100% work rate.

Bar Roma though Ronaldo has been very poor in the big games that have been tight.
Not taking anything away from his amazing season though.

Exactly. Gattuso is neither very talented or anything spectacular but he'll run all night, stick to his job and work fucking hard for the team. Hargreaves can do a similar job for us.

Hargreaves to leave Bayern
Bayern Munich have confirmed Owen Hargreaves is leaving the club - with Old Trafford likely to be his destination.
The 26-year-old midfielder has been wanted by United since last summer, but the Bundesliga side have always refused to sell - until now.
Club president Franz Beckenbauer confirmed Hargreaves' imminent exit in an interview with German TV, citing the player's personal desire to move on as the reason behind his departure after ten years with the club.
"Owen is leaving. That was the player's wish. It's a good match and it's also a good deal financially," Beckenbauer told Germany's DSF sports television network.
Beckenbauer did not directly confirm media reports that Bayern will get 25 million euros for Canadian-born Hargreaves. But he did say: "It's in that range."
Reports suggest Hargreaves will sign a four-year deal with the newly crowned Premiership Champions. ManUtd.com will keep you posted on the situation.

well that i think its a confirmed news.above is from manutd.com. £17m and below is a good price imo, but if it goes above i would say we are over charged.
expect to see the official press release soon .

I think Hargreaves is a very good signing by United, ive always been a fan of his and it really grated with me when the wankers who "support" England started to boo and jeer him when he was representing his country before the World Cup. I was delighted that he proved them all wrong in Germany.
He has great energy, is really quick, works very hard, can tackle, keep things simple, intercept and will chip in with a few goals.
I think it will be an excellent signing.

It's an addition to the quad that, ultimately, will improve us next season. Good to see this deal out of the way, now. We don't have to spend all summer looking for a midfielder - we can concentrate on other things.
£17m is a lot for him, but still, it's decnt work from Gill&co, considering the bid Bayern previously were constantly turning down, was £16.9m - we have held our cards still and as such we haven't had to up the fee.

well said, one job out of the way makes it eaier for us to move on to other ares we need to improve.
with owen, fletch, scholes, carrick, and occasionally o'shea(frankly i dont know where exactly to put him, he can play anywhere any time!! ) we have good mid-field for the rigors of next season to be competitive on all fronts.this could be the year we repeat the treble!!!

Well finally that's over with...
And the price...you've bought a young player who has won league titles, cup titles and even the CL with Bayern Munich and has also played for England at the World Cup. A player like that doesn't go from one big club to another for a low price.
I think he will do very well in England.

I can't say he's worth that much though, but Man Utd will always get inflated prices.
