Man Utd captain Neville out for season
tribalfooball.com - May 01, 2007

Manchester United captain Gary Neville has been ruled out for the rest of this season.
Neville has been recovering slowly from the ankle injury he picked up against Bolton in March and new scans have revealed worse damage than first thought.

The defender has ligament trouble and bruising that means he will be laid up for over a month more - which ends his United campaign.

It is a desperate setback for Neville who will miss the run-in for the title, a possible Champions League final and the FA Cup showdown with Chelsea.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not good if true, although the source isn't reliable, I wouldn't be surprised but the more fit defenders we have the better, plus we could do with his experience and leadership in such crucial games...

Default Neville Loses FA Cup Final Fight

Manchester United must do without defender Gary Neville in the FA Cup final on Saturday after the defender lost his fight against a ankle injury.

The 32-year-old has struggled with injuries all season and has been missing since hurting his ankle against Bolton two months ago, but it had been hoped he would return in time for the Wembley showpiece with Chelsea.

However, with hope lost the England international has decided to undergo exploratory surgery to determine the exact nature of the problem, which means he will also miss England's forthcoming internationals.

Wes Brown or John O'Shea will fill in for Neville at right-back for the match with the Blues on Saturday.

United have been used to being without Neville in recent matches, but the blow is more severe for England as they are also without Micah Richards, who many see as Neville's replacement, for the must win Euro 2008 qualifier in Estonia next month.

Park Ji-sung has dismissed suggestions he will be sidelined for a year and plans to be in South Korea for Manchester United's visit in July.

The midfielder is recovering in Korea after undergoing a knee operation which curtailed his season with the Premiership champions.

There have been reports that Park will be out of action for 12 months, having picked up the problem against Blackburn Rovers in late March.

He has played down those rumours and plans to be in his homeland when United play FC Seoul in pre-season in July.

"For the next two months, my knee doesn't need much attention, so I've been allowed to come to Korea," Park told Korean reporters. "The medical staff keep in touch with me.

"Unlike the media's expectations, it will not a last year, but I cannot say exactly how long it will take.

"A medical check in August will decide when I will come back.

"I want to stay in South Korea when Manchester United come, if they allow it. I strongly hope so."

Park is trying to undertake his recuperation away from the media spotlight in Korea, where he is the country's biggest star.

He accepts his recovery programme is a struggle, but he remains committed to returning to fitness to be back at Sir Alex Ferguson's disposal.

"Frankly speaking, rehabilitation is the last thing that I want to do," he added, "but I have to accept it if I want to play again in the Premier League."

Well that's pretty good then, but if he's missing preseason he'll still have to skip quite a few games.

yep, with the experiance we had with smith when he made his come back, park will be put on a specific training in order not to rush him back and at the same time make him ready for his start.

Injury setback for Ole
30/05/2007 12:50, Report by Gemma Thompson

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is struggling to be fit for Norway's Euro 2008 qualifying double-header after complaining of pain in his knee.

The Norwegian striker missed his country's last two qualifiers through injury and is definitely out of Saturday's clash with Malta.

The 34-year-old has aggravated a knee problem and faces a race against time to be fit for Norway's second home game against Hungary next Wednesday.

"Ole will train separately before next Saturday and will then join the rest of the squad to be with the boys," said Norway boss and ex-City defender Age Hareide.

Norway's physio, Thor Einar Andersen, added: "Solskjaer has felt some pain in his knee. It's not possible for him to train with a football at the moment.

"He is a smart fox, and he has proved before that he can return from injuries. The problem has been caused by too much training; it is not a new injury."

Solskjaer made 32 appearances for the Reds during the 2006/07 title-winning campaign, netting 11 goals.

Default Ferguson rues loss of injured Park

Ferguson rues loss of injured Park

(AFP) Saturday 19 May 2007

"Sir Alex Ferguson has voiced his frustration at being forced to do without Korean midfielder Park Ji-sung for the finale to his side's best season in recent years.

Park is currently recovering at home after undergoing surgery in the USA to repair knee damage he suffered in the final minute of the Red Devils' victory over Blackburn Rovers on 1 April. That ruled the player out of the closing weeks of United's successful Premiership campaign and Saturday's FA Cup final.

Had he been fit and available, the midfielder would undoubtedly have been involved at Wembley on Saturday. "He is a big loss to us, a terrible loss," Ferguson said. "His injury was a complete freak in the last minute of a game.

"We miss him very badly at the moment. His ability and adaptability to play different positions either side of the pitch, right or left, is a loss."

Park was operated on by world renowned knee surgeon Dr Richard Steadman in Colorado, USA, after the injury failed to respond to initial treatment. He now faces a lengthy rehabilitation, although Ferguson hopes to have the player available midway through next season.

"He will be back in a few months time and hopefully 100 percent," concluded the Scottish gaffer."

I think it will be hard for Park to get appearances for United next season with the new arrivals of Nani and Anderson.

Ole undergoes successful op

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has undergone successful minor surgery to clear up a knee injury and is expected to be fit for the start of the new season.

Whilst away on international duty with Norway, Solskjaer alerted medical staff to discomfort in his knee.

After consultation with United, it was decided he would be sent for an operation to clear up the problem.

According to Norway's team doctor Thor Einar Anderson, the operation was a success.

"The surgery went fine, but he won't be able to play in the game against Hungary on Wednesday," he said.

"We found what we expected when we looked at his knee. It was a bit swollen and the knee joint was a bit irritated, but we treated it."

It is hoped that the problem has been dealt with and Solskjaer will be able to return to full fitness.

"Hopefully his knee will be better when he resumes his training," added Dr Anderson. "We hope that this is not something that will return again and again, but it's too soon to say."

another op for ole.wow thats makes how many op's already he had for the same knee.but since its successful lets hope he gets well fast and join us at the beginning of the season
