Foster eyes starting role
Watford's on-loan keeper Ben Foster is hoping to claim the Manchester United number one jersey when he returns to Old Trafford next season.
Foster is currently in his second season with The Hornets, in a bid to accrue experience before returning to The Red Devils to battle it out with Edwin van der Sar.
The former Stoke ace was unable to play against his parent club in last Saturday's FA Cup semi-final and admitted he had mixed emotions on the outcome of the contest.
Foster has grown accustomed to playing regular football during his time at Vicarage Road and has conceded it would be disappointing to be on the bench at United.
"It was a bit of an awkward one, but I was glad I was there," he told Sky Sports News on being at the cup semi-final.
"Hopefully if I can go back (to United) and force myself into number one that would be unbelievable, it would be brilliant.
"But if it's going to be a case of sitting on the bench and waiting for the odd game here and there it's obviously going to be disappointing, but it's not going to be a bad place to be at really.
"You're going to be picking up certain things from people like Edwin van der Sar and that. I think he's been brilliant this season.
"I wouldn't say he actually deserves to lose his place because I think he's been one of the best keepers this season."
