is carrick starting to justify his hefty price?

last summer united were heavily criticised for paying over the odds for micheal carrick,i think it was around 18.6 mil.and it raised quite a few eyebrows at the time,but does anyone feel hes starting to justify his hefty fee?

personally i think hes a fantastic player,very subtle and clever with his passing,maybe hes not worth the 18 mil. but its surely not far off?

Players don't determine their transfer fee so I'd never assess someone's success based on their fee. He had a slow start and I didn't think he was the right person to buy at the time, but he has become an excellent signing. His first time long pass is as good as I've seen and he's proved he doesn't just pass it sideways. He can alter the tempo of a game, particularly with the players he's playing with.

i didnt think he was the right player to buy at the time either but hes certainly looking good at the moment,i think because he not a dynamic box to box midfielder he maybe doesnt get the credit he deserves,look at tottenhams slow start to the season see how much they missed him.

He's playing with a good team, he needs to score more goas, but as a season he ain't done to bad.

He's more expensive than Mikel and he plays a different role. That is bollocks.

Considering every outfield player we have (bar Gary Neville) has scored this season, it shows that he is giving the team enough balance to allow others to go forward, and he has more goals than Mikel if u'd like to link the two.

I'm glad we signed him, it was initially £14M, with extra fees which could potentially see it rise to £18.6M - which it probably will reach by the end of the season.

There have been much more expensive signings who have done far worse in the past and present.

Yes, he's isn't differnt POS to Mikel, Jose didn't even know Mikel pos when he came, no one did, he played CM for Lyn, AM for Nigeira under 19 , CM for Nigeira.

Cm for us, DM for us, United wanted him as a CM, Mikel was 16 millon all togther, you got 12 of this, on June 2nd, you brought Carrick June 31? or july 31 one of thoose days. It's not Bollocks.

Carrick has played many many more games then Mikel this season, knows EPl , plays for a scoring team , he's bound to get more goals then Mikel.

I dowt you would have Carrick now, if Mikel was brought. Depends how you see it.

Mikel sits back does the Maka role, Mikel picked ahead of the player who does the Maka role the best, for 19 year old it's a big ask, shows how much he's improved with natural talent.

Well you miss read, he had many differnt role he had played before Chelsea, which Jose and team know about, the point is, we didn't know his best pos, Mikel didn't know his best pos, we did know he wasn't known for his scoring.

Exactly what? It's doesn't have to be exact money, money can be forward to the deal, you wanted Mikel for 4 millon, then you got 12 millon for Mikel , you could now get a player who was more expensive.

Bollocks? Yes no evidence but signs are there, I don't know if United only wanted one midfield, I do know, you only brought one CM and that was Carrick, there was no signs you wanting Carrick untill you didn't get Mikel and you got more funds of Mikel.

Sounds like facts to me, Alex needed a mid to come straight in, Mikel proberly would of proberly come straight in as you would of got him a year(what ever date was) we got him, pre season etc, we slowly envolved him.

And that is what I was saying exactly to in my earlier post, u said Carrick is a poor man's Mikel, but we paid more for Carrick....

And we were going for Hargreaves as well, all season in fact, there's been no secret kept of that so it's pretty obvious we were/are looking for more than 1 CM

Clubs tend to buy and sell players at the same time of year; something to do with the close season and the transfer window.
