Default Sir Fergie raves about Danny Welbeck! Ahead of tonight's titanic battle!

Youth on our side
By Alan Wilson. Monday, 02 April 2007.
14 March 2007
Manchester United (0) v (1) Arsenal
The FA Youth Cup Sponsored by E.ON
Semi-Final second leg
7pm, Monday 2 April 2007
Old Trafford

Sir Alex Ferguson is confident Manchester United's current youth team can emulate the famous class of 1992.

The Youth Cup winning team of 15 years ago went on to become not only the backbone of the United Treble winning side of 1999, but also produced England regulars David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes.

And Ferguson believes his club's latest crop of youngsters can overturn a one goal deficit against Arsenal in their FA Youth Cup semi-final second leg at Old Trafford on Monday evening to secure a place in The Final against Liverpool.

"I am looking forward to it immensely," he said. "It will be an interesting battle on Monday night between Arsenal's young men and ours because their young players always get good credit, but they are not as good as our young boys.

"I am very pleased with the young players we have. I have watched the progress of the players over the last few months and it has surprised me.

"We have one young player who has a magnificent chance of becoming a top player. If you get one or two through you have done well. I think at least half a dozen of them will have good careers in football - hopefully at United.

"Arsenal got 38,000 fans at the Emirates Stadium for the first leg. I hope we get a really good crowd because it is important to Manchester United.

"A good youth team has been an integral part of the history of this club and it is important for the crowd to support it."

United currently have 14 talented youth and fringe players out on loan all over Europe. And Ferguson believes the youngsters will enable the club to remain among Europe's elite for years to come.

He added: "It is a very interesting situation because we have got so many young players out on loan, we will have to see what to do with them.

"We have got numerous players at Antwerp. We have also got John Evans (Sunderland), Danny Simpson (Sunderland), Lee Martin (Stoke City), Phil Bardsley (Aston Villa), Giuseppe Rossi (Newcastle).

"All these players will be recalled and I will be in a really good position next year because of the quality of the young players at the club."

Gary Neville doing the commentary again. He said United have no stars. Obviously not noticed Danny yet.

Murphy and Landsbury on the bench for the Arse as last time.

0-0 HT

Very uninspiring. Arsenal will be happy.

Utd need to get their fingers out or they'll be out.

Arsenal scored to go 2-0 up on agg

United got one back

In 93rd minute Welbeck played a visionary ball across.

Extra time.

How did it go to extra time at 2-1, unless someone scored from Welbecks 93rd minute ball?
