Why do people have a problem with him?
No one is claiming that he'll pick the ball up on the half way line, beat five players and fire one into the top corner from 30 yards. He's a box striker, and the best one in the world at that. He's a finisher and he never fails to get the job done, live with it.

Maybe I've just been unlucky but whenever I've watched him play in international and champions league games, he has looked really poop.
He obviously isnt shit because he has a good goalscoring record, but he is not a player I like watching or really rate to be honest.

He is good at what he does, and if used correctly can score loads of goals but IMO Ruud van Nistelrooy is the best box striker in the world.

We can argue all day about who's better out of Trezeguet and RvN, the point is that there's very few players that score more goals than him in a typical season (and he never takes penalties or freekicks either).

But RvN is undoubtedly one of them. I don't see what there is to argue about really, Ruud has a better goal scoring record than Trezeguet in international football, in the Champions League and in domestic football. Plus Ruud has proven himself in two of the world top leagues.

There's no denying RvN is one of the best box strikers in the world. His goalscoring feats at United bear testimony to that fact. However, Trez is no slouch either (although I still think RvN is better!).
Am I a big fan of Trez? Not particularly, but I don't have anything against him. Am I a huge RvN fan? You betcha - I was extremely disappointed to see the demise of his OT career come to pass as it did. I think RvN still had a great deal to offer at United - now Real Madrid are reaping those benefits. But the show must go on ...
That having been said, I don't think United will be in the market for a striker till this summer when we can all hop back on the Torres-to-United-yes-or-no rumor bandwagon
Midfield cover for Scholes and Carrick is a much higher priority at the moment!

If thats what we needed up front we would have kept Ruud. Best Finisher in football for me is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer no one comes close. Trezeguet is good but he is the wrong player in our system. Fernando Torres, Eto, Drogba, Adriano, they are some of the world class strikers who be perfect in our line up.

Ole's record this season: 21 shots, 15 on target, 8 goals.

Adriano isn't a world class striker, and Im not saying that because I despise Inter. His stats clearly show it. He has been terrible for over a yr, and just recently he scored his 1st goal in around 9 months.

Trezeguet has a better international record.
Plus RvN used to take a lot of penalties for Man Utd and I'm sure he's taken a few for Madrid as well, Trezeguet never takes penalties.

Trezeguet has won more at international level BUT as a said Ruud has a better goal scoring record in international football despite playing for a poorer international side than Trezeguet.
Maybe Trezeguet would have a better record than Ruud if you ignored penalties but IMO a more interesting stat is that this season Ruud has 10 goals in 16 games for Real Madrid while Trezeguet has, what 5 goals in Serie B?
