Which is a highly unamusing prospect. City finishing above us would be awful.

I heard from a very good source that the City deal hasn't been finalised because some of the Abu Dhabi Royals are unsure of it now.

Tussle for Boilesen
United and Chelsea are locked in another tug-of-war, this time over Danish teenager Nicolai Boilesen. Brondby defender Boilesen, 16, will have trials at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge this month. The clubs infamously fought over John Mikel Obi before the Nigerian midfielder moved to Chelsea from United for £12m without kicking a ball for Sir Alex Ferguson’s team. Boilesen, who captained Denmark U17s to a 6-1 win over England last month, said: "United are my favourite club. But I am very proud that two such big clubs are watching me."

Is that footballer-speak for, "I'd rather be at United than Chelski, but since money talks, if Chelski stump up more I'll proclaim myself a lifelong blues fan in a year or so"?

Transfer rumours from Dave Whelan at Wigan:
Quote:
Towards the end of last season, the Red Devils were strongly rumoured to be in negotiations with Wigan for a double transfer swoop that included Valencia and talented midfielder Wilson Palacios.
Club manager Steve Bruce also admitted there had been interest from top clubs and had stated he would be powerless to stop the duo leaving the JJB Stadium and joining United if an agreement was reached between the two sides.
23-year-old Valencia’s stock increased further recently when he scored an outstanding goal from long-range during the 2-1 home win against Manchester City
And now Whelan has admitted to the club’s fans that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and Chief Executive David Gill are still preparing a bid for Valencia with the club sending scouts to watch Valencia on a regular basis.
“We've got some fantastic young players here and we're going to get some clubs chasing them,” he said to the Wigan Observer:
"That's football. If you're a professional footballer you want to win things – I understand that. We will keep them as long as we can,” Whelan added.
"The goal from Valencia against Man City was stunning. I know Man United have been watching him."
It is possible that United see Valencia, along with Nani, as the future of their wing positions with Ryan Giggs expected to retire within two seasons and Cristiano Ronaldo very likely to leave the club at some point in the future.
The Ecuador international has started in all seven of the Latics’ Premier League games so far this season, scoring twice.
|
I typed this into Goal.com's reply box, and wondered why the hell I'd bothered:
I think Valencia is a great player, potential for the absolute big time. I hope United do sign him, eventually, probably not while we've still got Ronaldo, Giggs, Park and Nani vying for the two wide positions. Giggs is always moving centrally now and isn't far from retirement. Ronaldo may be off within 2 years and Nani has been God awful since 2008 came around. So we may have a place for him in the squad before too long at all. I'd love to have Valencia at United, really is capable of the step up imo.
I get the feeling that our next signing will be a winger, and I get the feeling Ferguson's first choice is a Valencia player rather than Antonio Valencia - David Silva. I think Valencia is the choice if Valencia (or Silva) stop us in our attempts.

agreed .we have ronaldo and then park, nani if he stats the way he is now i bet he will be out faster then ronaldo so we do need a cover for giggs.
