Gudjohnsen wouldn't help the team that much, he's past his best and he's not the type of player we need. Another relatively short, technically gifted striker that drops deep? Apparently he drinks quite a bit as well but that's only a rumour so probably shouldn't be paid excessive amounts of attention.
Berbatov may be stroppy, but as far as talent goes there aren't that many better. And as far as moodiness goes, look at Cantona and Ronaldo & look how awesome they were/are.

good height, good technical all over but im still having doubts on berba.what i mean based on wht spurs have achieved last season, he still looks a shaky investment.
but what spurs have got might due to the factor of a team show and berba is just one man.we could provide him a bit more then what spurs have but can he deliver it?

Greek starlet in demand
Quote:
Manchester United and Nottingham Forest are both showing a big interest in Greek starlet Kyriakos Papadopoulos.
The 16-year-old central defender has already made his first-team debut for Olympiakos and is seen as a tremendous prospect for the future.
Papadopoulos recently featured in the European Under-19 Championship, and despite Greece going out in the group stages - the youngster impressed hugely.
Indeed skysports.com understands that both United and Forest have made enquiries about Papadopoulos.
Despite the interest it is believed that Olympiakos are keen to keep hold of Papadopoulos and tie him to a long-term deal.
Meanwhile, Olympiakos are also believed to have fielded an enquiry from Blackburn about Vasilis Torosidis.
Rovers are just the latest side to ask about the Greek international wing-back who has attracted attention from all over Europe.
It is believed Olympiakos want around €8million for the 23-year-old.

That anyone would think Eidur Gudjohnson would be a benefit to the team whereas Berbatov wouldn't, and then go on to put forward the accusation that Ferguson doesn't sign players that help the team, seriously demeans my faith in the intellegence of humanity.

There have been conflincting reports over Berbs today, some saying we're close to a £24m agreement, and some saying we've been put off by a £38m price tag.
The Daily Star claims Real Madrid want to hijack Tevez as well as Ronaldo, while other news that Schuster wants Robinho to stay and might go chasing Villa/Fabregas suggests that they're moving on from Old Trafford targets.

Papers: Saha for PSG?
Saha heading for PSG
United are ready to sell Louis Saha to big-spending Paris St Germain to raise money for new arrivals. The injury-jinxed French striker, 29, is wanted by PSG who have signed Chelsea veteran Claude Makelele and is interested in going home if a fee and personal terms can be agreed. United have rejected several bids from clubs who want Saha on loan and PSG would have to buy the hitman and then be able to take on his stunning £4million-ayear salary. Sir Alex Ferguson has grown fed up with Saha's inability to be a significant part of his squad and the money from shifting him could help in his bid for a fit goalscorer. Saha should know his PSG fate shortly.
Alan Nixon, Daily Mirror
In other news, Owen Hargreaves has handed United and England a major boost by claiming he is finally over his knee problem. Hargreaves was restricted to just 23 starts last season following his £17million move from Bayern Munich. But he believes a course of injections has rid him of the debilitating tendon problem.
Sir Alex has slammed Sepp Blatter over his slavery claims. FIFA chief Blatter accused the United boss of treating Cristiano Ronaldo like a ‘slave’ after refusing to let him join Real Madrid. But Sir Alex rapped: “I know that slavery was abolished many years ago. It’s an unfortunate statement from someone in such an important position to come out with."

Who knows, perhaps Saha can rediscover his fitness at PSG ... the question for me is whether United have enough time to find a replacement with only three weeks to go until the start of the season ...

tick tock, tick tock ... only 10 more days till the Community Shield. United have been stuck in neutral for two and a half months - it's almost as if David Gill et al. have been asleep at the wheel all summer. Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City - they have all made great strides in improving their squads. United have been offloading youth talent left and right ...
With the rumors swirling that Spurs are trying to land both Arshavin and Pavlyuchenko before the season starts, this could be their year to break into the Top 4. And still United slumber ...

As soon as Spurs sign Pavyuchenko, or some other forward, Berbatov will be at United. It's not like we need to sign a lot of players, a 9 is all we need, and we'll have it before the season.
