Not exactly sealed, but it looks incredibly likely from where I'm standing. He'd certainly be that number 9 anyway.

good progress but his desire to play in real still poses a danger, hope if he does come it wont be a repeat of another twinkle toe saga.

According to this morning's tabloids, Arsenal are also trying to sign him - their offer is around 18m ...

I wouldn't worry about that with Huntelaar. If we sign him, I'm sure he'd stay on at least 5 years, and in that case, we'd be selling him at 29/30, similarly to Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

He doesn't seem a very Wenger-esque buy. The price is a bit too high for Arsenal. Also in the tabloids is that Arsenal need to make a profit in the transfer market every year, and if they're replacing Hleb, Adebayor and Flamini, they won't be spending much on any single player.

Adebayor's price tag is rumored to be in the region of 30m - if he does move on, then 18-20m for his replacement would make good business sense.
Looking at Arsenal's transfer possibilities:
- Aaron Ramsey (signed)
- Amaury Bischoff (negotiations in progress) - replacement for Flamini
- Samir Nasri (almost signed) - the fee is rumored be around 12-13m, and would he not be a replacement for Hleb?
- Huntelaar (rumor) - fee around 18-20m
Just looking at this list, Adebayor's fee pays for both Huntelaar and Nasri. So the fees for Hleb and Flamini would surely be sufficient to cover the outlay on Bischoff and Ramsey ...
Also, assuming Drogba is on his way out, are Chelsea going to jump in with an offer as well? Or are they fixated on landing Eto'o?

It looks like we're signing Huntelaar after his comments that he loves Man Utd and we are interested in him.

If Adebayor moves, Wenger won't get his fantasy £35m price. Barcelona/Milan are more likely to get him for around £24m. They got no fee for Flamini, and the price on Hleb's head isn't all that far ahead of the Nasri fee.
Bischoff for Flamini, both Bosmans, so no profit.
Nasri for Hleb, very little if any profit at all.
Then Ramsey in for £5m, so ther's probably a small loss overall by now.
Adebayor for Huntelaar, the profit from this would cover the Ramsey deal, and no more. They'd be breaking even, but not getting the profit they're looking to make (rumoured to be a pretty difficult £24m)

Exactly. If a player came out and said "I really really love Arsenal, they're interested in me and I really really want to move there, would we seriously go in for him?

Papers: Moyes eyes Fletch
Moyes In Bid For Fletch
David Moyes is in talks with Manchester United aimed aimed at tempting them to sell Darren Fletcher. The Everton boss is preparing an official £4million bid for the midfielder, who has come through the ranks at Old Trafford. Moyes wants to kick off his summer spending by signing Fletcher, who played a significant part in United claiming the Premier League crown last season. He sees Scotland international Fletcher as a major player in Everton’s bid to crack the top four after his team narrowly missed out on Champions League football to arch-rivals Liverpool. Fletcher, 24, will be reluctant to move away from the current European and domestic champions. But fellow Scot Moyes believes he can offer him a package to rival the £25,000-a-week he picks up at United.
Pat Sheehan, The Sun
In other transfer news, Aston Villa are apparently weighing up a season-long loan move for United goalkeeper Ben Foster, while Real Madrid's Ramon Calderon insists the Reds should be 'happy and proud' to negotiate a deal to take Cristiano Ronaldo to Spain.
Widespread reports suggest Carlos Queiroz will be named manager of the Portuguese national side, and The Sun puts forward Dutch tactician Rene Meulensteen as a potential successor.
|
todays paper round-up.not a chance, even tho fletch is a bit on off but we cant let him go just yet.24 and has world beyond him, has the potential and has a future wth us.
loaning foster back??that will just put his "united"career on hold even if its to the top 4 club.we need him here to gel wth the rest of the lads.

A loan move for Foster isn't all that bad an idea. He missed last season through injury and with VDS returning for another year, the year's experience in the first team at Villa would help him get his sharpness back. Also - think of it this way ... he might help Villa hold (or even beat!) Chelski, Arsenal and Liverpool so he'd be doing us a huge favor from that regard also

Papers: Eagles to leave the nest?
Eagles to fly away?
United may be ready to allow Chris Eagles to move on as ambitious Burnley boss Owen Coyle looks to sign the Old Trafford starlet in a £1m-plus deal.
Coyle wants the long-serving United squad man to quit the European champions and become a major player at Turf Moor. The big-thinking Burnley chief hopes to talk Eagles into the move this week after agreeing terms with United for the 22-year-old winger, once dubbed the “next David Beckham”.
The tall and skilful Eagles has only started six games in his time with Sir Alex Ferguson's men but has been a success in several loan spells – and now it seems time for him to move on.
United chief Ferguson has cleared him to speak with Burnley, who want to snap him up before rival bidders come in.
Coyle has already signed a handful of players but Eagles would be an eye-catching capture – and still leave him with funds for two or three more arrivals.
The Mirror
The same publication claim Real Madrid president Roman Calderon boasted to Spanish tennis ace Rafa Nadal that Cristiano Ronaldo had already signed for Madrid. "Do you know what Rafa said to me after everything that had happened in the final?,” Calderon is alleged to have told friends. "He said: ‘OK, pres, where's this Cristiano Ronaldo we're supposed to be signing?'. I said to him: 'Don't worry Rafa, relax, everything is under control, we've got him signed'."
Meanwhile, The Daily Star report Roy Keane wants to outlast Sir Alex Ferguson in management. The paper claim the Sunderland boss wants to become a “Premier League pensioner”.

another youngster on the way out?? i wonder if we can sustain the youth department like this.we cant go on season by season buying talents no matter how young they are.
sad thing is that the ones rumored to be leaving is ones that have had a promising loan spell wch given the chance could be our next fledglings.im tottaly against selling some of them instead if we cant seem to find space for the at the club loan them, but this time loan them to top flight club.some of them are more then qualified to play wth other top flight clubs.

I'm starting to envy clubs such as Barcelona, Villareal and Tottenham who moved early in the market. Doesn't it just seem more handy to get the business done before July, so all the focus goes into pre-season and getting the squad together. Plus, less competition from other suitors. With us only after one player, you wouldn't think we'd have had much trouble getting it wrapped up. Our first fixture is tomorrow, and the South Africa tour's first fixture is on the 19th, in eight days. So any new signing will probably be in a bit late, unless [insert optimism]
