I'm still not sure about where we stand with Ronaldo, he's confirmed he won't discuss his future till after the Euros (again) today. I'm still not sure if he'll be leaving this summer or next though, I can't see him still here at the start of 2009/10 though.
Also I expect Silvestre will leave as well.
|
agreed, ronaldo is still an uncertainty so we can rule it either way.
though losing silves is going to hurt a bit when it comes to the nitty gritty, you what i mean.
about the real players, all of them are in the same league as ronaldo.but if we are offered i would take Sneijder, he can be a winger for us all i care and seems to be able to cope wth it.
on the striker part again why not re-approach benzema??eto hasnt had a good season, but can he hold up his tantrums wth the lads we already have??

Woohoo, we've been linked with Villa, and apparently even spoken to his agent (along with a few other clubs)! BUT the source is AS, so it's about as reliable as err, Saha's knees?

Yes, Ronny is a Real fan, and he will play for them some time in the future, but he will not desert us now, believe me.
I think we should buy the following players: -
Micah Richards - Exceptional talent already living in Manchester. Gaz is very close to finishing and he'll give a good fight to Wes for the RB slot. £20m should do it.
Lionel Messi - Irrespective of whether Ronny stays or leaves, we are the BIGGEST club in the world. Therefore, we should be buying the best players, and Messi is second only to Ronny. £30m should do it.
Aaron Ramsey - I've never seen the kid play, but the media don't normally get it wrong. He's quality and worth a £7m bid.
Roque Santa Cruz - I have swayed towards buying this guy because he will score more goals than Berbatov. Berbatov is better technically, but Cruz is a better finisher. £12m should secure him.
So £69m should be spent IMO. We could recoup £5m for Saha and £6m for Pique, leaving a deficit of £58m. The Premier and Champions League wins will pay for that.
It's very important also that we match, and overtake, Liverpool's achievements. We will do this.
BELIEF COMES FIRST !!!!
|
Aaron Ramsey has gone, but the rest of that ^^^^ lot is there for the taking.
I think we should make a point and publicly go for Messi.
Then tell the media that none of the Real Madrid players are good enough for us !!!!

I guarantee that Messi will not join United. Not just because the fee Barcelona will demand will be unbelievable, but also because he's been at Barcelona since he was 13, and is humble enough & loyal enough to want to stay there as long as Barcelona want him, which will be for a long while yet.
Anway, today's rumours are that we're linked with van der Vaart:
Goal.com - Euro 2008 - United, Chelsea After Van Der Vaart?
We'll have to wait until after the Euros to see if anything comes of this and the source is dubious at best, but I think if we lose Ronaldo it'd be a good move, completely different players but I expect we'll be completely changing our style anyway.

Well, it looks as though Ronaldo is forcing the issue now ... but here's one (just to fan the flames of speculation) ... Ronaldo for Sneijder, £55m and ... (wait for it) ... Ruud van Nistelrooy. I for one would love to see RvN back at OT if Ronaldo leaves. I certainly don't want him ending up at Spurs and I am not sold on Berbatov at all - I don't think he is anywhere near consistent enough, whereas RvN has proven year after year that he can get the job done ...

Certainly not someone you would look to for an immediate impact but the rumor is floating around for a week or two now and seems to be persisting.
MLS Rumors - For the time between the games
Quote:
File this under, "Wow, where did that come from?" It seems the 18 year old FC Dallas player could be on his way to Old Trafford.
British website, The People is reporting the following:
Alex Ferguson is chasing big Brek Shea - the new rising star of United States football.
Manchester United's top scout Jim Lawlor is preparing to fly to the States to watch the giant 18 year old, who is skipper of his country's youth team, on the orders of Old Traf ford boss Ferguson.
The 6ft 3in Shea, who plays for FC Dallas in the MLS, caught United's eye at last month's Toulon tournament in France, where he stood out despite being years younger than most in the under-23 category.
The powerful Shea, whose family is of Norwegian stock, can play at centrehalf or in midfield and has been outstanding in his first season as a professional in America.
Shea is a colourful character who used to have a Samuraistyle haircut until he was told to get it trimmed by a national youth team coach.
He now sports a more conservative look that would meet the approval of strict disciplinarian Sir Alex Ferguson. The billionaire Glazer family, who own United, would love an all-American boy to sign because the potential spin-offs would be huge.

6ft3in at 18! not bad...
Anyway, I don't think we've been linked with either.
But I think United could do a lot worse than look at Arshavin to replace Ronaldo, not quite the same position or style but in terms of creativity he'd be a massive asset if he could fit in.
And also Pavlyuchenko, he runs his arse off, is tall and can score with both feet. He's a bit inefficient I think at the moment, misses a few chances but I think he has the potential to be a very good all round striker.
Both would be quite cheap I'd expect, but I don't see us going for either.

No.
Definitely not.
We were too one dimensional with Ruud. Yes, he scored goals for us, but the team as a whole weren't as good as they are at present.
If Ronny does leave, I would be wanting £80m plus Snejder.

Arshavin's goal last night had Ronaldo all over it. Positionally there isn't a world of difference between them imo. Now obviously, it's not a great idea to base a player soley on an international tournament, but he's been playing just as well for a whole season. Only stopping factor is his age, at 27. Doesn't make it impossible, but considering Ferguson is planning to have his successor inherit a virtually self-sufficient squad, it may be the case that he wouldn't want to leave the squad needing a key player replaced so soon, which could happen if we did sign Arshavin.
As for Pavlyuchenko, I'm a fan. He's got a good touch too, but I don't think he's clinical enough (perhaps not even good enough tbh) to be a player we'd be signing.

at 27 if we need like a 4th back up striker he would fit in well, but since we need some one who can take the load as to the 2 that we have, we need some one 2/3 years younger.

ok... sneijder isnt going to come to united... hes come out and said he has no interest... i dont want him.
soooo, the deal should be 80-100million straight cash for ronaldo, and here is what i would do with it... ive thought about this for a while, so let me know what you think
-25million for micah richards... can play all defensive positions, young, perfect fit... we are going to lose alot of depth in the back this summer, so he would be welcome
-20million for david silva... replacement for giggsy in my eyes. beautiful left foot and wonderful decision maker. i really like his style... any thoughts? (i would like ribery, but i dont think bayern will sell him... so i didnt put him in here)
-15-20million for both arshavin AND pavulychenko together... both russians would be good fits. the age shouldnt really be an issue i dont think... arshavin has a style that will be sustained for at least 5 more years. the fact that hes 27 means nothing to me.
-30million for eto'o, benzema, or berbatov... i cant decide which i would rather have, but i think its in that order for now... tough call
thats FIVE F***ING TOP-CLASS players coming to united next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!!! that is unbelievable...
plus, we would sell silvestre for 5-10million, saha will be sold for around 7million, already sold pique, and will probably lose evans or simpson as well, and a few other youngsters... that will bring in about 20-25million, which is enough to invest in a young phenom... like one of the young french playmakers from lyon! i like that idea ALOT! if that didnt work out, ronaldinho is going to be available for somewhere around this range, and has come out and stated his interest in playing in england (not necessarily united, but still)... i wouldnt mind his services for a couple seasons!!!! SAF would finally get his wish to have ronaldinho after missing out the first time.
I DO NOT WANT RVN... THAT SHOULD NEVER BE BROUGHT UP AGAIN.

Villa - YES! But I think Liverpool may have the inside track on any move he makes b/c of his relationship with Torres
Richards - I think that price is unrealistic, we are talking about City, remember ... they'll do to us what we should be doing to Madrid
Arshavin and Pavlyuchenko - definitely - but I suspect Chelski will have the inside track on both of those players
Eto'o - why not - but question his dressing room presence
Benzema - would be nice, but I don't think he wants to come to United
Berbatov - I'm still not sold on him
Ronaldinho would be an interesting proposition but I don't know if his wage demands would be in line with what United are willing to pay

villa is good too... i just dont think hes the out-and-out striker presence that united are looking for this summer. BUT, he is a fantastic player
i was referring to david SILVA in my projections above though.... winger for spain, left footed, and seems to have ALOT of qualities that would fit in at united from what ive seen

My mistake! Silva has definitely impressed this tournament. Regarding Villa, I read this morning that Spurs are set to offer £20m for Villa ...
