All a bit quiet here at the minute!!

Wonder if Ferg and Carlos are going to have another 1 day spending spree like they did with Nani and Anderson.

Hope something happens soon, would have liked to have kept Pique but I am sure SAF has plans for cover...... Richards perhaps??

Would still like to see Hunelaar as a United player. Would offer us something different, a big target man.

Bordeaux: Signing Silvestre Won't Be Easy

Quote:
Bordeaux want the unsettled Manchester United dfender and Silvestre, a life-long Girondins fan, has already admitted that the feeling is mutual. With the English champions also willing to sell, it would appear that the deal is a foregone conclusion, but Triaud isn't so sure.

"Taking a player with English wages is complicated," warned the big boss at Bordeaux.

The club have also been linked with Milan's Yoann Gourcuff and Caen's Yoann Gouffran, as they prepare to give a good account for themselves in the Champions League next seaon.

"Of course those two players interest us," Triaud added. "But in the case it will not happen, we keep other options.

"They are not the only good players on the market."

Has anyone seen France's last two friendlies? I'd love to see Bafétimbi Gomis here next season. He looks class, and score 16 for St. Etienne this season.

Nope... never seen him play but we haven't been linked with him at all.

Meanwhile after a quiet few days:

Manchester United will make a record-breaking offer for Lyon's French striker Karim Benzema in a deal that could top £30m. (The People)

Apparently we're heading the chase for Alves, but it'll require £20M+ --> Goal.com - Manchester United - United Leading Alves Chase

We could play him RW as well as RB so in a way it would be killing 2 birds with 1 stone.... Although it would probably have to be a very large, platinum stone.

to many imports being linked, but if saha departures it just clears one place.

wth fifa set to implement 6+5 rule, i wonder if it will some how affect our buys.does this rule apply to how many foreign players can a team own or just how many a team can field per match?

The rule won't come into effect until 2012/13 at the earliest, and even then I think that might be a bit optimistic on their parts.

And I'm pretty sure it just applies to the starting line-ups.

But there's no real point in worrying about that for now.

Might not be a bad idea to ensure the squad of 012 has enough high quality British players though. But I don't think it'l affect our policy now, not with concerns to first team additions anyway.

Cardiff's Aaron Ramsey will join one of the country's top clubs in the next month - as long as Cardiff can borrow him back next season.

Never liked the idea of buying a player to loan him back.

True but as it is we're in a good situation:

Foster, Brown, Hargreaves, Ferdinand, Carrick, Rooney, Campbell, Simpson, Evans, Wellbeck, Fletcher are all British and could all be here in 4 years time, most of them should be... And English players will be bought or promoted from the youth team.

At his age it doesn't really make a difference, he wouldn't get a game at United and most likely would be loaned out somewhere, so if it makes it easier to sign him it would make sense for that place to be the team he's happy at.

good point

loaning back is actually good, look what it did for ben, if we brought him to united after we signed him i bet he would have not gained the experience he gt when he was still wth his old club.same can be done to ramsey if we did buy him.

he can cont to nurture his progress wth week in week out top flight competitive football and after a certain time we can bring him back.

as of now, we cant even seem to find enough games for our senior players whom occupy our bench, then comes our own reserves/academy players and top of that if we buy some other youngsters they will be last on that pecking order.its hard to break the rock solid performers we have in some positions.

to ensure we get the right lads to secure the growth of our club and to make sure the talents we train doesnt go to waste and can carry on the torch after their seniors loaning is a good strategy

Foster was signed off Stoke and loaned to Watford. Plus he cost £3m. If Ramsey isn't good enough to assist our squad in any way at all, he isn't worth the £10m Cardiff are reportedly holding out for. If we could get a lower price, fair enough, but the bids Cardiff are rejecting are supposed to be as high as £5m.

Well of those, 6 have to be good enough to hold down regular positions in 4 years time. That is highly possible, but if you're having to put 6 in every starting line-up, you'l have to have a good think about the composition of your squad.

If the 6 plus 5 rule does come into effect (which could be unlikely, as it is in a way, discrimination), then the likes of Campbell and Evans, players who would usually find it impossibly hard to get into the squad, would have to be thrust in more often.

And apparently we'v taken a fancy to York City's youth setup.

Quote:
Manchester United are tracking York City starlet Adam Boyes.

The 17-year-old forward has even spent two-weeks training at Old Trafford after he impressed the Red Devils' scouts.

Middlesbrough and Tottenham are also being lined with youngster, who is yet to make his full debut for the Conference outfit.

Interest

"There were a couple of times last season when Manchester United scouts watched our youth team as well as the other sides we were playing. In the end, Adam Boyes was invited on a week's experience at Manchester United," City boss Colin Walker told the York Evening Press.

"That turned into two weeks and the second was a tournament which he asked my permission to play in and I gave that.

"The feedback and vibes have all been very positive but, as it stands, Adam is still a York City player and it's been a fantastic experience for the boy.

"It's all about an experience for the boy at the moment and hopefully he will still be in my squad next season because you can't buy the experience he's just had."

United have good links with the Minstermen having previously raided them to land Jonathan Greening and Nick Culkin and now a third deal could be in the offing.

Well we are always signing up talented youngsters, but is it possible we're now paying particular attention to their passports?

Manchester United are preparing a £15m bid for Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz. (The Sun)

Hull City will have to pay Man Utd £5m for striker Frazier Campbell. (Daily Mirror)

I'm not sure about £15M for Santa Cruz. He's a very good player but he might fade in his second season (like McCarthy did), so £15M is a lot of money...

He's only 26 (27 in August), but I worry about his injury history. He was fine this season but every year at Bayern he was injured, and if we end up getting another Saha it would be pointless.

And I don't think we should sell Fraizer Campbell, I'd be annoyed if we did... I'm not sure what a player would have to do to prove themselves worthy of a chance in the first team squad if he was moved on.

Papers: Reds ready to Roq

Utd to Roq Rovers with Santa bid
United are planning to hit Blackburn with a £15million bid for towering striker Roque Santa Cruz. Boss Alex Ferguson has earmarked the Paraguay international as United’s main summer signing. Fergie sees Santa Cruz, 26, as the big man who Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney can feed off. The United boss has given up on Louis Saha playing that role after a succession of injuries. The club is looking to sell. Fergie has also had to give up on an audacious bid to land Barcelona top scorer Thierry Henry, who was persuaded he still has a major role to play at the Nou Camp. Rovers will be desperate to keep their main striker. But with manager Mark Hughes on the way to Manchester City they will struggle to hold their prize asset.
Neil Custis, The Sun

The Daily Mirror reckon United want a staggering £5million for young striker Fraizer Campbell - but Premier League new boys Hull City are hoping to pull off a remarkable deal.

some funny stuff in today round up.whats sooo "audacious " about henry??man its just made my day laughing

also there is no way in hell we are going to let hull have campbell.he is one for the future and has loads of potential.

what do guys think of snta cruz??£15m is way to high for him imo.
