Papers: Reds in for Bos?
Fergie's £15.8m bid for Bos
United have bid £15.8million for Portugal right-back Jose Bosingwa. SunSport can reveal Porto received the offer yesterday but want no less than £22m. United boss Alex Ferguson sees him as the successor to Gary Neville. Bosingwa, 25, is similar in style to Patrice Evra and a £55k-a-week deal with the player and his agent has been agreed. Fergie first made a move in January and No2 Carlos Queiroz was sent to open talks.
Ian McGarry, The Sun
The Daily Star reckons Sir Alex is lining up a bid for West Ham striker Dean Ashton.
Hammers' boss Alan Curbishley believes the United boss will retire if he wins two more Premier League titles and one more Champions League.
on the last part of the round up it seems like a stupid guy waving his banter
Angry Avram Grant will today accuse Curbishley of potentially destroying the integrity of the Premier League by saying that he wants to see United win the title. Grant is furious that Curbishley has gone public on his wishes to see Sir Alex win a 10th crown when United meet West Ham on Saturday.

We've been linked with Dean Ashton today as well, although judging by his form this season I'd suggest this is more in build-up of tomorrow's match rather than anything based on fact.

Richards Fergie's Top Transfer Target - Report
Quote:
Manchester City defender Micah Richards is reportedly at the top of Sir Alex Ferguson’s summer wish-list …
According to News of the World, the Manchester United boss is hoping to snare the highly-rated England international as he seeks to strengthen his defensive options over the off-season.
The 19-year-old signed a new contract earlier this term that runs until 2013, and as such United may have to pay in the vicinity of ₤25 million to wrangle the athletic stopper from their cross-town rivals.
It is understood that Sir Alex has earmarked Richards for the Red Devils’ troublesome right-back spot, ahead of Sevilla’s Daniel Alves and Porto’s Jose Bosingwa, with whom United have also been linked.
City had hoped to keep hold of the promising youngster for several seasons as they look to build toward the future, but the lure of Champions League football and potentially doubled wages may be too enticing for Richards to refuse.

Goal.com - Manchester City - Richards Fergie's Top Transfer Target - Report
Yes please. He may play for City but he's quality, be incredible as a future RB and a back-up CB, and he's English which is a bonus... Prising him away would be damn difficult though.
Apparently we're also interested in Cardiff's Aaron Ramsey:
Liverpool will offer Cardiff £3m for teenage midfielder Aaron Ramsey but Manchester United are preparing a £10m package for the Wales Under-21 star. (News of the World)
and Kenwyne Jones of Sunderland:
Sunderland boss Roy Keane hopes to persuade Kenwyne Jones to stay at Sunderland after knocking back an initial enquiry from Liverpool. Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in the striker. (News of the World)

Micah Richards moving to us, no chance. It's not because he plays for City, it's because he has a contract with City. We'd be held to ransom. Not worth it for a centre back who we'd play at RB, whoever it is.
Aaron Ramsey could be a promising player, but we are stacked in CM, although he is 16. That leaves the question of why we'd pay £10m for a 6th/7th choice midfielder. Still, this does interest me a bit, maybe it is possible, as by the time he's expecting a handful of games, Scholes may be fading. Even still, he's not proven a £10m price tag yet.
I like Kenwyne Jones, and I think he'd be good for us. He'd be another option in the squad, who we could use regularly in rotation. We may be able to do better though, and Roy wouldn't let his star go too easily. Maybe best leaving him to show what he's worth for another season anyway.

i think a striker is all we need this summer... the rest of the team is solid i think. no need for an rb, lb, winger, cm.... doesnt it make sense (if we would only buy one player) to really splash the cash on a striker because the money doesnt need to be reserved for anything else?
benzema for 20-25 million anyone?

Papers: Deal or no deal?
Bosingwa agent denies United deal
Jose Bosingwa's agent has dismissed rumours the Porto right-back has agreed terms with Manchester United. The 25-year-old Portugal international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the English press, but Rui Neno insists nothing has been agreed.
"There is not any sort of agreement with Manchester United," he told PA Sport. Neno claims no club has yet matched Porto's valuation of the player but reckons Bosingwa could be interested in a move.
"If any club bid the 30 million euros set by the club, I believe there might be agreement," he said.
Daily Star
Meanwhile, despite the closest title race in 40 years, Newcastle United boss Kevin Keegan has warned the Barclays Premier League is in danger of becoming “boring”. He told the Daily Mail: “It would be mad to say Newcastle will be in the top four next season. We are a million miles from them. The top four will be the same as this year but what I can say to our fans is we will try to get fifth and win the other league that is going on.”
The Sun report Premier League chiefs are minting two sets of winners’ medals and will use two trophies for Sunday’s final fixtures. The paper claim the real one will be at the JJB Stadium for United’s trip to Wigan, while a replica will be taken to Stamford Bridge for Chelsea’s clash with Bolton.
Rio Ferdinand’s interview in this month’s Inside United magazine has been widely reported, with The Mirror running his quotes on the current squad’s team spirit: “The team spirit is the best it’s been since I’ve been here. Obviously I can’t say what it was like before my time, but I’ve never known it any better. I can only assume the manager does extensive research into a player’s personality before signing him because we’ve not had one bad apple.”

err its sounding more like the game show....well not a big problem if he doesnt come, not the only one and we are quite solid at the back.

If we were only going to buy one player this summer, obviously it would need to be a striker. However, we'll also need to add an attacking RB and another winger. Wes has been decent this season, but he's not a RB and he's put an end to numerous attacks with his poor crossing. I wouldn't spend too much on a winger, but I wouldn't be surprised if Giggsy called it a career after this season, especially if we win the double along with him passing Sir Bobby's record, so we'll need a 4th winger to go along with Ronaldo, Park and Nani.
And Benzema is going to cost more than 25 million.

attacking rb... hargreaves!... brown and pique and simpson can play there too
another winger... i wouldnt mind another "ji sung park"-like signing... inexpensive (if im not mistaken, wasnt JSP signed for like 2.5million??), hard working player at a very good/proven club. we dont need a "superstar" there.
benzema wont cost more than 25million... that is what essien went for, and he was in much higher demand as i recall...

Yes, all of them can play there, but it doesn't mean the position can't be improved. I think Hargreaves is better served at RM. Lahm would be a great fit, and he shouldn't cost too much since he only has one year left on his contract.

Which is pretty much exactly what I said.

He will cost more than 25 million. If he's put on the market, he'll be in higher demand than Essien was, every top team in Europe will be after him. Torres went for more than 25 million and Benzema is 4 years younger, not to mention Aulas will scrape every penny out of the club buying.
I think Mario Gomez of Stuttgart would be another great fit at striker.

Pique can't play rightback. Don't be ridiculous.
Hargreaves looks like being the rightback for next season. Tragic waste. The worlds first 20million pound right back.
Benzema most likelt won't be leaving Lyon. If he does it'll be for Real Madrid, not Manure.
Mario Gomez will stay in Germany at least one more year and wouldn't suit your kick, rush and hope it comes off Ronaldo's arse and bounces in style of play.
Nice to see Manure taking advantage of our scouting department again. Can you not find any players to target by yourselves?

Oh and Lahm?? You think he has any intention of coming to England? You're having a laugh. He'll sign a big extension this summer or at some stage next season and stay with Bayern. If not he'll go to Spain.

Liverpool's scouting department... the same scouts that passed on the opportunity to sign Ronaldo for £3M when he was 17?
Yeah I'm sure Ferguson is desperate to have scouts like that on his side
