Well he's 6"2 and two footed, and a goalscorer by trade. So he isn't an Angolan Crouch or Zigic. He's basically like the reverse of what we have in Rooney and Tevez. It's hard to really talk about him when you haven't seen him play - we can gather what kind of player he is through source material and stats, but untill we see him play, there's no way of knowing if he's up to it.

Well we've got our team to root for at the African Nations now anyway.

Btw, he can, apparently, also play left wing. The guy is quite literally unknown - even checked Football Manager, not a Manucho Goncalves among the 17,000 recorded players!

Maybe it's a favour!

Anyway Fergie PLEASE get Hutton! He would do amazing at United (although Rangers are unlikely to sell unless they get good money). I prey he doesn't go to Spurs as it ruins most defenders.

This isn't a transfer rumour but apparently RIO FERDINAND (organiser of the infamous Christmas party) is going to be named England captain by Fabio Capello.

but this is according to the Daily Star.

Also, apparently SAF has banned all future parties, including celebrations if/when the team wins titles.

Another young keeper linked

Quote:
The English trio have all been impressed by the 18-year-old custodian and could all match his buy-out clause to try and sign him in the summer and Valladolid's president has admitted that he could leave.

Asenjo made his first-team debut for Valladolid on December 2 this year in the victory over Villarreal and his performance in keeping a clean sheet saw him win many plaudits.

With his buy-out clause standing at just €4.5m, all thre interested parties would be willing to meet that as it would not be seen as a risk for a young player of his ability.

Valladolid supremo, Carlos Suárez, knows that the club would be unable to prevent Asenjo from leaving if an offer comes in,

"We are prepared for any situation and it is not impossible to see that a club may think about paying his buy-out clause," the president admitted.

"We want him to stay here because we will do what is best for him. But his value is continuing to grow."

Along with the English clubs, Asenjo's agent has revealed that several Spanish sides have also shown an interest in the keeper.

"More than one Spanish team is very interested in his future with a view to next season," Fernando Redondo explained.

"But with his buy-out clause standing at €4.5m, they have held off. Sergio is
going to stay where he is for now."

Default Interesting......... all over the press

Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Quieroz has confirmed the club are tracking Porto defender Jose Bosingwa.

Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson is thought to be drawing up a list of targets as he searches for a long-term replacement for Gary Neville.

With doubts surrounding Neville's fitness and Wes Brown set to leave at the end of the season after rejecting a new deal, Ferguson is keeping tabs on the progress of Boswinga, among others.

United have showed a liking for the Portuguese market after bringing in Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Anderson in recent years, and Bosingwa could be next.

Queiroz is quoted in the Daily Mail saying: ""There are some Porto players good enough to play for United if they want to Jose is one of them.

"He is a very good player and we are keeping an eye on him."

Aston Villa are also thought to be keen on Bosingwa as Martin O'Neill looks to bolster his defensive options.

Football365.com - UNITED EYE PORTO ACE BOSWINGA - All The News - Football365 News

This seems to be all over the papers and Carlos has admitted the interest.
We really do need a new RB now that Nev is ever using his zimmer and Wes is hardly a first class RB (great cover but NOT a first team RB, crossing and getting forward is too poor).

Either this guy or Hutton plus Berbatov would be a nice January, thank you please SAF!!
Cant see us getting another striker but can only cross our fingers. More of a summer signing I think, Berbatov or Huntelaar.

Agent: Berbatov ready to quit Tottenham

Dimitar Berbatov wants to leave Tottenham if a suitable offer from a club 'which matches his ambition' comes in during the January transfer window, according to comments attributed to the Bulgarian star's agent.

The striker has rediscovered his stunning form for Spurs in recent weeks and fired four goals in the 6-4 win over Reading on Saturday.

However, his agent Emil Dantchev claims the player is keen to join a team with greater trophy-winning potential than the north Londoners.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has insisted they are not a selling club, but Dantchev is reported to have told The Sun: 'I have already spoken to the Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and told him that if a club which corresponds to Dimitar's class and ambition comes in with an offer which suits his current club in January, he would like to be allowed to go.

'I would like to stress this is not about money, this is about sporting ambition, nor has it anything to do with the new manager Juande Ramos. Dimitar is perfectly happy with Ramos and the way he is working but after Tottenham's bad start to the season it is unlikely they will have the chance to do something big this season.'

Manchester United have been linked with Berbatov in the past, but Spurs have always been firm in stating he is not for sale.

Dantchev added: 'Dimitar is OK at Tottenham. I would not say he is happy but his performances for the club are a testament to his commitment to the fans and his team-mates. He has never stopped trying and scoring goals to help the team.

'Fans must understand Dimitar is 27 next month and time is running out for him to play for a club which can match his ambition.

'It is a long-term plan for Spurs. Dimitar wants to fulfil his potential and win trophies now. He would definitely consider a move outside of England, that is not the issue. What matters is a club which matches his ambition and his level, and therefore there are only five or six around Europe. Two clubs outside of England and one from the Premier League are interested in him.'

Levy said yesterday: 'Once again for the record, we are not a selling club, rather we are building for the future. When we have players on long contracts we have no need to entertain offers.'

Papers: Dimi to join Reds?

Berba: I'm off
Dimitar Berbatov has sensationally told Spurs he would like to join a ‘big’ club — putting Manchester United on red alert. In a bombshell interview with SunSport, the Bulgarian superstar’s agent Emil Dantchev last night revealed: “I have already spoken to the Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy, and told him that if a club that corresponds to Dimitar’s class and ambition comes in with an offer that suits his current club in January, he would like to be allowed to go. Dimitar is OK at Tottenham. I would not say he is happy. But his performances for the club are a testament to his commitment to the fans and his team-mates. He has never stopped trying and scoring goals to help the team. Fans must understand Dimitar is 27 next month and time is running out for him to play for a club that can match his ambition.”
Antony Kastrinakis, The Sun

In other news, Sir Alex Ferguson has told United to win the Champions League as a reward for Cristiano Ronaldo. "Six players in today’s squad have won a Champions League medal — Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Wes Brown, Owen Hargreaves and Edwin van der Sar, as well as Paul Scholes who was suspended for the 1999 final," said the boss. "I know the others are keen to join them. We are rating Cristiano Ronaldo the best player in the world. But he needs the medals to prove it."

Sir Alex hopes Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick will have recovered from illness when United look to bounce back from defeat at West Ham by beating Birmingham at Old Trafford on New Year's Day.

Round up by Gemma Thompson

now from various different source, one round up from our own official site, other from espn.

so could this really be it????berbatov??

Think its still a lot of gossip, but seems to have been picked up by a lot of the worlds media. is it just another agents PR stunt though??

Fingers crossed!!
As he proved at weekend with his four goal haul, he is a class act and would fit in fantastically at OT. His 3rd goal when he passed it through a crowd of Reading defenders was sublime.
Mind you, dont think many people would have stopped his first goal.... was like a rocket..

We can only hope.................. *waits with baited breath*

Berbatov wouldn't be able to play in the CL since he's already played in the UEFA Cup for Spurs, right?

Could be us, could be Chelsea, since both are in the market for a striker. Then again, it could be a brilliant agent ploy, to put both clubs on edge. I'd love to have Berbatov at United, since he's a class player, and our kind of player, while still being something we don't have in the squad.

It was weeks ago that Queiroz mentioned Bosingwa - when he was asked about Veloso, and responded with the names of 6 players in the Portuguese league. Porto's price on Bosingwa in the summer was £14m, which is a lot for a RB, especially when Hutton could cost around £8m. I'd be happy with either, although Hutton has other factors in his favour; what with being closer to home, younger, cheaper and all. There's the thought that we're buying too many players from Portugal, but frankly, it's a brilliant market for us - we have the best contacts in Portugal, and great relations with their clubs. If we can use that strength in the market to get a good deal, than we may as well. Still, at the end of the day I'd prefer Hutton.

AS Roma striker Mirko Vucinic is reported to be on the radar of both Real Madrid and Manchester United.

The Montonegro international caught the eye with some fine displays and clutch goals during the extended period in which Francesco Totti was out with injury, so much so that he is not likely to be content to slip back into the shadows now that the skipper is back fit.

Although everybody knows that Totti is the undoubted star of the show at Roma, Vucinic can not even count on being one of the members of the supporting cast, as the striker does not have a fixed place in coach Luciano Spaletti’s preferred 4-2-3-1 system, with the ‘1’ being firmly occupied by the Giallorossi captain provided he is healthy.

The 24-year-old is currently co-owned by Lecce and Roma, and Lecce sports director Guido Angelozzi expects the Italian capital club to find a way to make space for such a talented player.

"The relationship between Roma and Lecce is good, and the Giallorossi are the favorite to sign Vucinic," he revealed.

"We haven't negotiated his transfer with any other team, because we do not like to talk with many teams about one player.

"The player is in Rome, so it is up to them to make a move, but it is not a mystery why there are several big clubs interested.

"It is normal that outfits such as Real Madrid and Manchester United are interested. But Roma are a great team and I am convinced they will get him."

Considerably below the standard of Berbatov. If there's good to be said about him, he's strong and much more a targetman than anyone else we have, has a good goal return at internationsl level, with 4 in 6 in his career, with all 4 goal in his 4 games since the Montenegro split. His return for Roma is well below par, and he isn't able to get anywhere near Roma's side without an injury plague. To sum up, he's a number 9, just not a great one.
