I'd be surprised at Richards. Doesn't make sense at this stage, we have several young defenders coming through (Pique, Evans, Simpson), have plenty of players who can play right back and Richards would cost too much (especially now City are being taken over by some rich Asian bloke).

No idea.
List of what, who I think we'll sign or who I want us to sign?
As the Hargreaves deal is all but done I expect no more than 2 more signings, probably a striker (maybe with Saha leaving) and a winger.

My list:
Huntelaar (would be a dream signing I think)
Faubert (only 23)
Owen (bit of a long shot, but for 11m, well worth it - especially if his fitness holds up)
Nugent / Chopra (young striking talent is hard to pass up)
Eto'o / Torres (big price tag brings big expectations - under this heading see: Shevchenko / Ballack)

For me:
Eto'o
A winger, no names spring to mind that are the right age, versatile and are available.

If Ribery comes to England, I think it will be to Arsenal. We're not paying a huge fee for Richards when he still have Gaz and his likely eventual replacement in Simpson already in the squad. Huntelaar is a Ruud clone, hence we won't be buying him either. Can't you see the difference in our style of play last year with Ruud to this year without him? We're a much better team without that sort of striker. Yes, both Ruud and Huntleaar are very good players, they just don't fit into the system Fergie has built.

Well mine would probably be:
Torres
Ribery
That's hopeful, you're looking at over £20m for Torres and another £13m on Ribery. If we were shouldered out of signing Ribery, then I wouldn't mind Nani too much.

Yeah, it's a tough one. There's a con for every pro, and there isn't exactly a plethora of wingers linked with us. Nani, Ribery and Lennon (sparsely) are 3 that have been mentioned. Pedersen as well (albeit a while ago now0, but all of them have their complicatons and, beyond those names, there aren't many. I can think of Mancini and Quaresma and they have their major complications and all.

a name we haven't been linked with (but Liverpool were today):
David Silva, the Valencia winger. He would be an awesome acquisition although I don't think it would be easy signing him.
anyway just checked and more news:
Man Utd ahead of Spurs as Nani battle opens
tribalfooball.com - May 28, 2007
Manchester United remain favourites for Sporting Lisbon winger Nani.
The Portugal international is set to be sold by Sporting after he rejected a new contract offer tabled by club management last week.
Tottenham have held talks with Sporting about Nani's availability, but United are in the boxseat for the 20 year-old thanks to their relationship with the Lisbon giants and also the player's desire to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo next season

Man Utd boss Ferguson still keen on Kightly
tribalfooball.com - May 28, 2007
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson remains keen on Wolves winger Michael Kightly.
Fergie missed out last January after a deal between Wolves and Grays Athletic had already been struck before he came in with an offer for the youngster.
The News of the World says United, West Ham and Portsmouth are all battling for Kightly, who is rated in the £2 million class.

my bad, it s not who we would like to see at united but who among the ones linked with us that would probably end up at united. .
eto would be nice but he might be costly and very costly that is.love to see him link up with our forwards.

agreed russell and so far there is no one except nani, wch is un-proven as of yet to be linked in that position.with the current squad we have another winger is just the missing jigsaw.

Spurs, Man Utd alerted as Newcastle plan Dyer sale
tribalfooball.com - May 28, 2007
Tottenham have been alerted to the potential availability of Newcastle United midfielder Kieron Dyer.
The Independent says new manager Sam Allardyce wants to overhaul his midfield as well as defence with the injury-prone and high-earning Dyer, who has interested Tottenham Hotspur, unlikely to figure in his plans.
Spurs are unlikely to have a clear run at Dyer, with Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson a big fan of the England international and Liverpool also monitoring developments closely.
|
That's a weird one. He's a good player, imo, but we don't need any more injury table space taken up. Add to that, where he'd figure is a mystery. But it's obviously bs, as the article gives a source for Dyer wanting to leave, and Spurs wanting to get him, but no source for our interest. We're probably only being linked with him here because Spurs are.

I still can't really see another club wanting him though as I imagine his wages would be problematic.
But if we sold him, it's most likely to Spurs so he can hook up with goldfish Jenas again.

Dyer is quick and good at dribbling, but he's not great at finishing or crossing and is no way the type of player we should be looking at (more Liverpool's calibre )
Although having said that Liverpool are about to bid £9M for Malouda... That's a bargain and we should get in on the act.
