Hargreaves 'set to join' Man Utd
England midfielder Owen Hargreaves is set to complete a move to Manchester United after Bayern Munich agreed a deal, according to reports in Germany.
Hargreaves's move to the Premiership champions has been agreed according to the website of German magazine Spiegel.
The deal, believed to be worth £17million, will go through once Hargreaves agrees a four-year contract.
Bayern president Franz Beckenbauer has previously admitted that the player could be sold if the price was right.
The Bundesliga giants have so far refused to grant the 26-year-old's wish to leave for Old Trafford.
And Hargreaves refused to comment on the report following the conclusion of the German Bundesliga season.
He missed Bayern's 5-2 win over Mainz because of a knee injury which means he could have already played his last game for the club after 10 years.
He has played a total of 145 league games won the Champions League with the Bavarian side in 2001.
Beckenbauer, speaking recently on German television, said: "If it is right there is an offer of 25-30m euros (£17-20m), then I would seriously consider it.
"I think the board also think this way to satisfy the needs of the player."
Hargreaves has been a long-standing United target and the player has expressed a desire to play in England.

Alves - Yes Please!
Saha - The inability to stay healthy did him in at OT in the end
Hargreaves - About time that saga was resolved!
One of the English papers also has United in a £12m swoop for Huntelaar. Wouldn't that be a shakeup of the forward line?!?! Rossi goes back out on loan, Saha moves on and Alves & Huntelaar come in to join Rooney. Add Hargreaves to the midfield and United are maybe one player away (I'm thinking versatile defender here - maybe G.Nev's long-term replacement) from a truly solid squad!

generally a good post until the end... we already have versatile defenders--brown, oshea, heinze, neville. the real need is a winger which you failed to mention. also, i dont think rossi would be "loaned" again, i think he would be sold to be honest. a neville replacement isnt a priority this year as he is still on top of his game in my opinion... next year maybe, but this year, no need

Owen deal is not SAF's last action
Sir Alex Ferguson will turn his attention to capturing Gareth Bale, Fernando Torres and Nani after luring Owen Hargreaves to Old Trafford
Bayern Munich have admitted that England midfielder Hargreaves is on his way to Manchester United in a £17million deal - but that's just the start of Ferguson's summer spending.
Young Southampton full-back Bale has long been linked with a move to the newly-crowned Premiership champions, possibly as a replacement for Gabriel Heinze, who is expected to leave the club.
Long-term target Atletico Madrid striker Torres is also high on Ferguson's wanted list, while Sporting Lisbon winger Nani completes the quartet of potential signings.
The Red Devils chief is also keen on Tottenham pair Aaron Lennon and Dimitar Berbatov - but he knows it would take millions to prise the pair from White Hart Lane so is prepared to be patient and move for them next summer.

Hmmm - with the £17m deal for Hargreaves, getting Torres, Bale & Nani will probably rack up another £40m - £50m in transfer fees. Not sure that United will really be splashing that much cash.
Torres may not be the striker coming in as United are linked with both Alves and Huntelaar. Nani's price tag apparently is doing nothing but going up for no reason, so I question United's interest there ...
It's certainly shaping up to be an interesting summer though ...

It's better to keep Heinze if Bale is thought to be his replacement...

Ferguson to cash in on Man Utd's Heinze
tribalfooball.com - May 20, 2007
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to listen to offers for Gaby Heinze this summer.
The Times says Heinze has told teammates that he does not expect to be at Old Trafford next season, with a move to an unidentified Spanish club believed to be on the cards.
Having served three years of a five-year contract, Heinze could be bought out of his existing deal for approximately £6 million under new Fifa transfer regulations, but United are likely to settle for a slightly smaller sum for a player who has struggled to regain his top form since suffering cruciate knee ligament damage in September 2005 after a highly impressive first season at the club.

Man Utd make formal approach for Juventus starlet Palladino
tribalfooball.com - May 21, 2007
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is making a fresh bid for exciting Juventus striker Raffaele Palladino.
Tuttosport says a fax from United arrived at Juve's HQ on Saturday asking for information about Palladino's availability.
Ferguson has been following the Italy U21 international for over three years and is convinced he can reach the heights of Cristiano Ronaldo, who he landed from Sporting Lisbon as an 18 year-old.
Juve are determined to hold onto Palladino, though the player has admitted in the past to being flattered by Ferguson's interest.

Man Utd to test Spurs resolve over Lennon
tribalfooball.com - May 21, 2007
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is planning a raid on Tottenham - but not for star striker Dimitar Berbatov.
The Mirror says Ferguson is lining up a bid for England international winger Aaron Lennon, who he sees as a natural long-term successor for Ryan Giggs.

Man Utd to send Kuszczak to Sunderland
tribalfooball.com - May 21, 2007
Manchester United are ready to make Polish goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak available on-loan.
The Mirror says the return of Ben Foster, after a season on-loan at Watford, will see Kuszczak pushed out of Old Trafford, with Sunderland likely to snap him up.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Those are high expectations of this Palladino, if he's that good we've got to snap him up!
I'd like Lennon at United, I think he's slightly overrated, his touch still leaves a lot to be desired imo but he has so much raw potential it's untrue and SAF could harness it.
Kuszczak to Sunderland.... fair enough, works out for both parties.

Juve have already turned down an offer from Utd a while ago. Selling him now, after he has proven himself, wouldn't make any sense.

Man Utd step up Nani talks with Sporting Lisbon
tribalfooball.com - May 22, 2007
Manchester United are continuing talks with Sporting Lisbon for winger Nani.
After clinching an agreement for Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves, United are now stepping up negotiations for Portugal international Nani.
Cristiano Ronaldo has recommended Nani to United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who has also sought the opinion of assistant manager Carlos Queiroz and brother and chief scout Martin.
Nani is still to sign his new six-year contract, says A Bola, which has opened the door to United snapping up the 20 year-old for a knockdown fee.

Everton in talks for Man Utd's Bardsley
tribalfooball.com - May 22, 2007
Everton boss Dave Moyes is in talks with Manchester United for fullback Phil Bardsley.
The Mirror says Bardsley, 21, finished the season on loan at Aston Villa but has now returned to try and break into the first team.
Moyes has been in touch to try and get him either on loan or on a permanent deal.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't understand, has Nani not signed his new contract then?
