Default Berkovic Off Transfer List

Transfer-listed Manchester City midfielder Eyal Berkovic has insisted he wants to end his career with the club.
The 31-year-old Israeli requested a transfer before the start of the season, but now seems set to withdraw it with City riding high at the top of the Premiership table.

Berkovic demands transfer

"Even when I asked for a transfer, at the bottom of my heart I wanted to stay at City," he told the Manchester Evening News.

"I have said it thousands of times and I mean it. I want to stay here until the end of my career.

"I love the club and I feel at home here and in Manchester. It has always been my dream since I started playing to be at such a big club.

"I hope things will continue like they are and I will take the transfer request back immediately."

Berkovic has not been offered an extension to the two years he still has left on his current contract.

Portsmouth were monitoring the situation but have been unable to raise the money to finance any move for Berkovic.

Then why did you choose to go on the transfer list?

No pompey bid was probably the reason he stayed.

Reckon your last line is pretty conclusive - Pompey were unable to raise that capital, as opposed to your aspersations about "no bids".

Eyal knows where his bread is best buttered....
