Skysports.com broke the news of City's interest in Garrido on Wednesday and they have moved quickly to tie up his signature.
The 22-year-old penned a four-year deal after passing a medical at the club's Carrington training complex.
Garrido, who came through the youth ranks at Sociedad, becomes Sven Goran Eriksson's fifth signing of the summer.
